Sunscreen?
 
So as some of you know, Bella has no hair. When were outside during the day her skin gets hot very quick, even if were going for a 10min walk. I still want to be able to take her outside for walks and to play, but I don't want her to get sunburned. Does anyone know if I have to use special sunscreen for dogs, or if I can just get her regular sunscreen like for people?

Also, Rocky has hair, but should I put sunscreen on him as well just to be safe?

I don't know the answer but why don't you try posting this in the Grooming Section, maybe there you could get more help and this is a good questions...Wonder what you should do??? Wish I could help you...Have to done a search on the internet? Hugs, Lee

I know that my friend who has a hairless crested has to put sunscreen on him, so yes you do. I believe she just uses ordinary sunscreen.

Just be careful about putting the sunscreen where she could lick it off, like her nose. You could also put a lightweight T-shirt on her.

i'd call and ask the vet
if not, you can try baby sunscreen if they're sensitive enough for a baby, its sensitive enough for a dog :)

They definitely need sunscreen as their skin can burn just like ours. Yesterday I was out with the dogs and had Ruthie's hair in pigtails and was concerned about the skin showing where her hair was parted — so I slathered on some sunscreen. We were outside for hours yesterday at Woofstock and she didn't burn. I had read on Google or something that dogs can burn - particularly their nose areas - especially if they have a 'dudley' nose (brown nose or patches of lighter areas on their nose). I would think you would want a special sunscreen for the nose area as they would likely lick it off.

What about a sunscreen spray for your little one since you're wanting to apply it all over? And I agree with jennzy, baby sunscreen might be your best bet. I know they make dog sunscreen too.

I actually bought a suncreen lotion for dogs at my local petco, its nice, light non sticky. so far no complaints.
