Yorkies and pools?? Hi, I was thinking of getting my Yorkie-poo a little pool this summer. The smallest one and only filling it a couple of inches. Do they like to swim? He doesn't mind his bath. Does anybody else have a pool? Thanks Cindy Coco the Yorkie-poo and Tracy my Boston Terrier :animal36 |
ive been taking me almost 6 month old in the pool since she was about 4 months. she seems to like to float around more than swimming for the time being . shell swim a bit but then i feel like she might be cold going back on her raft so i just take her in and give her a bath. i think if they have too much hair maybe it would weigh them down?? though that never held my shih tzu back from jumping in the pool the moment anyone went in |
My two yorkies swim in our inground pool. They love to go out on the float and when they get hot they jump in and swim. Then they either swim to the steps or get back on the float. Both girls love it when we go swimming. |
We have a pond in the garden with waterlilies & other plants in it. Last week my smallest girl was playing chase with one of the others & took a flying leap landing, splash, right in it.....seemed to be very surprised that it was wet :D |
Seth and Sasha LOVE the water!!!! |
we have an above ground pool. skittles loves the water, mr snickers tolerates it and the other 2 want nothing to do with it. i put their lifejackets on and skittles and snickers will swim to me but they'd really rather be on the float. i just purchased the skamper ramp so they can get out easier but they never go near the pool without me! i have a gate block with another gate just to make sure. i'm sure that a small pool with only a few inches of water will be ok but please make sure you are there at all times. we had a terrible loss this winter because my sister and brother-in-law didn't pump the water off the pool cover after a very heavy rain. her peke got under the gate (still don't know how) and drowned because she slipped onto the cover and couldn't get out. please be careful. we are still sick over this. |
Mine hate our pool. They fall in from time to time and my dauughter takes her little boy Spike in to swim sometimes but truthfully- they look terrified. I know I've seen pictures here of yorkies in the kiddie pools and they love them but not mine. |
Won't get an ear infection or something if they swim? |
I have a little 2 ring blow up kiddie pool for Lil" Miss Izzie...she enjoys getting in and getting her feet wet...sure wish i had a reg pool for her to try, she doesn't mind her baths and I think she would enjoy swimming around... |
