Update on our new Rescue Chance!!!! Hubby and I were rather worried for what the night was going to bring, especially since Autumn and Blaze sleep w/us. I knew that was not going to be an option for Chance. So at 9:30 pm I put in in the crate in my family room and up we went to bed. Well he slept ALL NIGHT - not even one peep!!! The phone rang at 3:45 am (Hubby's job) so I got up and Autumn and Blaze ventured down stairs right to the crate. There he was sitting up wagging his tail like crazy! I kept him in the crate w/the belly band on. So out we all went. He pooped right away and peed twice!!!! He doesn't want to pee or poop on the grass, he rather us the patio but atleast its outside. I guess we can work on that. Of course he lifted his leg on my kids little tikes picnic table and then again on my sons bug habitat but a little hot water works great at washing it away!!! I always give my two cheerios or a treat in the morning after they have gone out and done their business but Chance won't take anything. I offered him every treat I have had. He has only taken a piece of cheese. I wonder if he has ever seen kibble or anything hard for hat matter. I do have a question regarding the pee pad. He walks a bit strange when he is wearing it (almost like a crab) and it seems as if he needs to stretch himself out constantly when he is wearing it! Has anyone else experienced this? The other thing I was wondering is if a male is not neutered when they are young does their urine have the potential to have a stronger sent then a dog who was neutered as a pup? He was neutered on 5/12. Thanks for listening and sorry this is a bit long! |
Sounds like things are going well....... GREAT!!! I think that you said he was wearing a pee pad, but believe you meant belly band, right? :D He may walk a little funny in a belly band, but you may want to check to see if it is too tight. |

Yes, it is a belly band, I put a maxi pad inside of it. Sorry I did not mean pee pad - this is very new to me as Blaze has never needed them. Nor has any of my other male dogs. But there is certainly a first for everything. I will have to find some cute belly bands, the one I got him is just plain Black! |
They may act a little funny with the belly band at first, but should get used to it quickly and act normal again as long as you are sure it's not too tight. I am so glad the night went well. Sounds like he will be a nice addition to your fur family. If you are looking for cute belly bands I have lots of different fabric choices including Nemo, Scooby Do, Batman, camo, etc. Just click on the link in my signature and scroll down below the potty pads and there are the belly bands.
