New Puppy Questions Hello! I have bought a yorkie(he's 5 months now and 12.5lbs)(the docs say 12.5lbs is normal weight for him). But I wonder sometimes if he's a mix breed.. his hair is wavy but I've read thats normal but he's kind of big.. Ican't seem to find measurements of standard sized Yorkies. I can only find teacups when searching.. he's a bit bigger then a toy palmerian. But anyway here's some photos of him.. first two are when he first came to the house and the last two are a couple weeks ago after they had to shave him(previous owner did not maintain his coat so it was matted). http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9...s/DSC01077.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9...s/DSC01079.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9.../cuteteddy.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9...ddyhaircut.jpg |
 12.5 lbs at 5 months ..... wow ..... what am I doing wrong with mine ???? Mine is less then 3 lbs at 15 months ..... he he he ..... there are lager ones on here .... like 15 lbs and up ..... so I would not worry ..... unless it becomes a Healthproblem ..... cute little Furbutt ..... ;) |
He looks like a Yorkie to me just a big boy!! More to love!! You might have the largest boy on here if he grows more since he's only 5 months old!! |
A top weight of seven pounds is the Yorkie standard, but there are many on here that top that. I had a Chihuahua that I later sold that was like that...he was 10 lbs. at nine months old. I ran into the lady that bought him later and she thought he was a Jack Russell terrier because he was much bigger than a Chihuahau...definitely a mix of some kind. |
what a beautiful yorkie x looks alot like my Holly who we lost in March, the wavy hair is cute |
He's a cutie pie. |

lol sometimes I wish he was one of the smaller versions but my husband finally gave into me having a yorkie when we met him. To my husband he's the perfect size and since his ears aren't clipped he still look boyish and not like a purse dog(as he calls it lol) lol he's in the military so their bosses and such rag on them for every little thing. I probably over feed him but if I feed him less then 2 cups of food a day he whines like he's starving and then starts begging me when I eat and it's just awful so I feed him that and he never asks for more. |
Aww. He's so cute!!! He definately looks like a yorkie to me. My grandma had a maltese and she was 14 lbs! She just got that big, but she lived a long healthy 14 years. :D |
OMG - Look at that sweet precious face ~ He looks like such a love bug and he's gotta tail  What a doll :D Enjoy him :p |

do they usually not have tails? Oh yeah he's a big cuddler.. he loves to lay by me and hates it that we don't let him in the bed anymore because he loves to sleep by me or tries to sleep between my husband and I. But he can be SUCH a handful! He's like a 2 year old sometimes. I've caught him EATING our carpet(it's new so it shreds but he was literally sticking his teeth in the carpet and pulling) and let me tell you hair and carpet does not digest in dogs and comes out as strings too and then we have to assist him if you catch my drift.. thank goodness that hasn't happened again though.. does your yorkie have good and bad days? |

He will grow out of chewing on everything, hes in a teething stage. He's absolutely beautiful by the way! His coloring and his precious face! I just love him to pieces! :) |
He is absolutley adorable:aimeeyork I do not think he is a mix... Looks like A Yorkie to me. :aimeeyork I really like his fur:animal-pa Being as big as he is, I like it cause Then I would not worry about him being so tiny and fraglie.:aimeeyork |
Normally, Yorkies do have their tails docked a few days after birth, but there are always those *special ones* out there that have escaped the docking pratice  I happen to adore the tails :p |
What a happy looking baby boy! :D Don't have a clue if he's a mix or not, but as long as he's happy and healthy, he will be a wonderful addition to your family and bring you more joy than you know. |
