hello JUst want to hi to everyone. just joined the site. we have yorkie named ruby and she is almost 9 months old. I do have a question for anyone that can answer. When should I expect her first heat cycle to come. I check all the time. Will she bleed? We don't want her to get pregant her first time. so any help would be grateful. thanks nanacheryl |
Any time. Yes. She will probably bleed, though it might be watery. It's been so long since I've been around that stuff, I've forgotten.:D |
Just wnat to say hello and welcome :) |
Welcome to YT!! Our Roxi was spayed at 6 months, we did not want to breed her, but just wanted to welcome you!! |
Hi, and welcome to yorkietalk. I've read that some dogs are so clean you don't even know they are having--is it called cycle? I want to say period. Anyway, obviously, I'm no breeder, but I highly suggest you read the breeding forum for a while; many interesting informative threads. Yorkies, I've learned are much harder to breed than larger dogs, and can be very expensive to produce properly. |
welcome to YT! Glad to have you here. I hope you do a lot of research on breeding and find a mentor before you decide to breed |
Hi and welcome to YT, nice to have you with us. |
I remember Daisy's first period & she bled a lot, lol. She still isn't spayed to this day, but I don't plan on breeding her or anything. I have no idea why I haven't gotten her spayed actually ... I think I'm going to though just to prevent cancer & such. Anyways, yes, your bby will bleed during her first period. Daisy usually bleeds for two to three weeks, so be prepared & protect your furniture, lol! Amy |
Hello Cheryl and Ruby!....Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Pic's of Ruby? |
Welcome to YT . |
Hi there and welcome! Our 10.5 mnth old Willow just began her first heat. Everyone said you would be able to tell by both her swelling and bleeding. She definitely swelled up (the difference is quite visible) and as for the bleeding, it is very minimal...she is pretty small though, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I noticed the swelling on Saturday and took a tissue and wiped her a bit and lo and behold, there was blood. She is very clean and keeps cleaning herself. The bleeding is so minimal that she is not leaving drops everywhere....someone said the first heat could almost go unnoticed...I hope this helps because I felt just like you a week ago!:) |
Welcome. Roxie who turned 8 months old Sunday came into heat on Saturday, she was suppossed to go in Tuesday to be spayed but we had to cancel it. I had a feeling she was coming into heat as she became more standoffish and was sleeping more and then she got real swollen and started bleeding Saturday. She has been very clean and I would not have known had I not been checking her. |
