I need the dog whisperer! Hi just wondering if any of you go through this........everytime I take my little Miko out (4 lbs) he starts aggressively barking at other dogs even Huge one's and he won't stop! I guess he's scared, but I'm so embarrassed. The owners of the other dogs look at me like Shut that dog up! I have to just wind up taking him totally away from the other dogs so that he can shut up! I think I need the Dog Whisperer! |
I LOVE him! I just saw the Dog Whisperer a couple of weeks ago for the first time - he is fabulous! I have both my kids watching, too. I have one that is wild - I keep him on the short leash, but he walks on his hind legs to be ahead. Maybe you could pick him up and hold his mouth, telling him "no" as you pass dogs. He could get the hint. Of course, if Ceasar was holding his leash, he would just walk along like a dog with no care in the world. It's amazing to watch him. |
i agree 110% with laura!!! |
I saw an episode where a dog was doing the same thing. They couldn't walk by any dog without their big dog going nuts on any dog that passed by. Cesar told them the dog was 1. feeding off their anxiety over the situation-they would tense up everytime another dog approached, and 2. "letting" him do it. He instructed them to keep the leash short and whenever they went by another dog to keep walking, looking straight ahead, and keep calm. At first they had to drag the dog, but they were not to look at the dog or have any reaction whatsoever, just keep walking. After a while it did work. We had to do this with Pippa, because she would try to growl and bark at people on our walks. Now she pays them no mind. If I remember right, Cesar also put the dog into social situations with other dogs. He maintained the "leader role" and kept the dog on the slip collar the correct the behavior, then whenever the dog tried to get out of line he does that "shtt" sound and a correction tug. He's so amazing-I would love to go to one of his seminars! |
Gucci doesn't bark at others dogs during our walks. But when we are at home she barks at every single noise she hears outside. I will love ot go to his seminar also. :) |
Does Miko socialize with any other dogs?? When Bell sees other dogs she goes wild, but its just because she plays to play!! |
Yes he does associate with one dog mostly. My cousin also has a female yorkie and they play together very nicely. They don't see eachother all the time, but they remember eachother as if they are family members! I am going to see if I can find a dog play group or something, (If my husband where to see me typing this he would flip) he already thinks I'm nuts for going on to the website! Well anyway, forget him. I enjoy the website alot, and I think you all are great and give wonderful advice, I have learned alot! THANKS :) |
