Most Yorkies I hear killed from Pitbulls or other breeds was right in their own yard.

I've watched my babies poop and pee thousands of times.... as I NEVER take my eye off of them. I now have a fence installed... for my piece of mind and their health and safety. They can't run off and the chance of them being attacked by other dogs is much less.

Get fencing and some posts, then install a fence. Mine is made from 1" x 2" wire approx. 42" tall.

A Pitbull or other dog coming in for the kill won't be affected by an "electric fence". Getting use to carrying a very stout club for protection is also a great idea against attacking dogs. Leashing my babies is never an inconvenience when it comes to their health and safety.

I've personally never used an electric fence but years ago we had a neighbor that had one for their Beagle. I thought it was the saddest thing really. Kids in the neighborhood would walk by and call for the dog and the dog being friendly an all would take off running and ZAP, the next thing you knew the poor lil thing was on the ground rolling all around from getting shocked. The kids of course laughed and thought it was rather funny but I didn't find the humor in it. Many times I'd go out the front door and threaten to follow them home and tell their parents. Our kids were over there one day where the beagle lived and were playing with the boy that lived there, the boy decided he wanted to see what it felt like for his beagle to get shocked, so, he took the collar off his beagle and put it on himself. Our kids said he took off running out of the yard and into the road and the next thing they knew, John (the boy) was cussing up a storm and yelling & trying to get back into the yard. They said he got the collar off and sat on the ground with a hammer and beat the collar and then walked over and tossed it down the sewer. I don't know if you've ever done research on shock collars, I have and it isn't a pretty thing to see some injuries caused by these things. It just breaks my heart. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find some. I'm not trying to be rude or hurt your feelings in any way so please don't take it like that, I just want you to be well informed and give you some things to think about should you decide to use a shock collar/electric fence. Bless the pups lil hearts for wanting to be with Momma 24/7, sounds like they adore you!

Maya is never off her Leash neither ... she will take off as soon as she sees something ... she ran off once and that was a big scare ... so we keep her on a leash .... but I don't know if you train them when there Puppys ...

I have two x-pens that I put up outside. They are big enough so puppies could run around safely. I would never ever let puppies loose outside. Maybe you could use a playpen or something like that. I think there are several kinds of pens you can use outside.

i would get an xpen or keep it on a leash, i wouldnt want to take any chances:)

I have to tell you...... I read all that you sent to me and I will NEVER consider an ELECTRIC FENCE!!! I am all but crying at the poor babies I saw and read about on these sites.

I appreiciate more than you can know, your bringing these things to my attention. I was thinkig all the things the site says about the cost especially, and the convenience. WOW It is not worth the harm that could come to your baby, or the pain it actually inflicts!!!

This sounds like a fencing that I could afford pretty easily. I am going to call my local Lowes store today to see what I can get done for this weekend comming up!! Thank you for letting me know what kind of fence you have.

Unless you have a fenced in yard, I HIGHLY recommend you do not let them out unattended. Even then its tough because other animals might get into your yard or hawks, or they could get out somehow, someone could kidnap them from your yard. I let my boys out in my boyfriends yard, but only if Im out there watching them every second. I never let them out unattended, I just would not feel safe doing that.
