They made me take her home So today was supposed to be a fun day at the lake for Coco. Instead, when we got to the lake, which use to allow dogs before, told me I had to take coco home OR LEAVE HER IN THE CAR !!!!! I asked them why they don't allow dogs anymore and they said it's a liability issue. "Some of the dogs have heat strokes and such out here" the b***h said. To which I replied "YOU JUST TOLD ME TO LEAVE MY DOG IN THE CAR THAT'S PROBABLY LIKE 200 DEGREES, ISN'T THAT A LIABILITY ISSUE AND HEAT STROKE? Naturally she had no response to that. So I was forced to drive 45 minutes to home, of course, not without having her pee on their grounds :D I had to leave her home and go back to the lake, which was no fun without her. I had to come back though, my nephew was crying his eyes out for me :( My poor baby. But she sat in an air conditioned home with snack and toys. I was just pissed that she couldn't be at the LAKE, where there used to be dogs. Anyways, I reported them to the humane society, and told them that I was advised to leave my 2lbs. dog in the car in heat....hehe |

That's nuts about the car ! How could they say that to you ? I think it's against the law to ever leave a pet in the car - I'm not positive about that... but they ARE really tough on that ....Good for you reporting that cause there are people out there that WILL leave their pets in the car rather than leave like you did - What a shame you can't even take your dog to public places like that - |

what is the big deal with letting a little 2 lb cutie like coco have fun at the lake? gosh some people! good for you that you put her in her place  |

That is ridiculous, and then telling you to leave her in the car. What is she crazy! |

Awww, poor Coco. I can't believe that. What's the difference in liability between a child and a dog? OK, a 150 lb dog I can see but a little 2lb nut, c'mon. She probably can't run far enough to do any kind of harm to anyone. It sux that you had to be there without her, but after everything you have been thru I hope you had fun with your family ;) |

I don't imagine her bosses told her that, stupid lady probably said it on her own. As far as the liability goes, how can the rules or policy say that? It is up to the owner to be responsible for the welfare of their pets. If I take my dog out in the heat and don't get them cooled down, how is that the parks fault? You can't sue them because of our carelessness. Besides they are city, county, or state run, they won't LET you sue them. Now on the other hand MAYBE a dog attacked someone elses dog and they put the liability clause in their policy. They won't admit that there had been an attack. They can't be sued for that either BUT there can be a big stink created over it so they have to do something about it. Or else it might be a pat way to say "People don't clean up after their dogs so we are not allowing them on our grounds anymore". |

The crazy thing was that I even had her carrier with me, which is quite roomy and big. So I told her that I had a carrier for her and she was like "You need to leave immediately or you can leave her in your car with the windows rolled down, or there's a KENNNELLLLLLL down the street! A KENNNELLL, A KENNELLL???? WHY DON'T YOU JUST SEND MY POOR PUP TO DOGGIE PRISON HUH? IDIOT!!! |

This woman probably doesn't make the rules but has to enforce them, so you might want to consider contacting whoever is in charge and talking to them. At some point, a lot of us have had to work for people who weren't very bright..... :) |

I cant believe they even said to leave her in the car....liability issues......STUPID PEOPLE!!!! |

Leave her in the car, that is the dumbest idea I've ever heard!! You should call there on Monday and ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them what happened to see if he could explain their policy to you. I've heard of leash laws at lakes but never no dogs allowed? Which lake did you go to? |

The same thing happened to us last year we went to our family reuion and when we got there a cop pulled up and told us we could not have are puppy at the park, I even had a playpen for him and a carrie bag. I was so mad . he said you can leave it in the car or tie it out side to the car. yeah right . i said you must be nuts. its just a baby no way would I tie it or leave it in that hot car. So my my Hubby and kids all took turns setting under a tree with the puppy. And while we was at the park there was other people that had big dogs running around with them I was so up set.We would of turned around and went back home, But it took us hours to drive theree and My Hubby only gets to see his mom every few years she lives so far. |

WHAAAAAAAAAATTTTT???? Who owns that stinkin' lake, anyway? GEEZ! I would have been flaming mad too! We're taking Sully to the lake tomorrow and if someone tells us to leave, they have another thing coming from me, HMPH! I'm sorry, girl I know you missed your baby too! That's good that she got to water the grass for them, though. Too bad she couldn't have left a present ;) |

Oh wow, so sorry that Coco wasnt allowed at the lake. That is so stupid to tell you to leave Coco at the car. I hope you had fun with your nephew anyway. |

That's ridiculous! I personally would have taken my family someplace else for our outting ... but I'm just not very nice! We had a similar experience on Father's Day ... there was an antique car show in a park near our Condo in Colorado and Patrick wanted to go. We all got ready [Toto was in her bag] and there was a big sign at the gate saying "No Dogs"! I looked at the lady in disbelief and said "You have to be kidding?" We just left and went someplace else after I shared a few choice words with her!! :) Yesterday, I did get an opportunity to voice our Wal-Mart concern about our babies, for whatever good it will do. I answered the phone at my Mom's and it was the Gallup Poll wanting to ask a few questions about Wal-Mart shopping experiences ... I told her I would be glad to answer her questions if she would address a concern of mine! I just told her simply that we have a tiny pet that cannot be left and that she is always in her bag. I suggested to her that they might at least "alter" their policy because I knew of about 4,000 other owners that felt the same way!! I told her that any time we were able to shop in a store that allowed us to shop with Toto in her bag that we avoided Wal-Mart altogether!! My husband and I don't do leisurely browsing in Wal-Mart together anymore and although it does save us money, we used to enjoy that sort of thing!! She assured me that she would address the issue ... I doubt it, but I felt better! ;) |

I will add - I was at the courthouse with my 4 year old son a few years back. He was coughing - the deputy told him to 'be quiet'. He soon came over and told me I needed to put him in the car if he couldn't be quiet. It was 100 degrees outside! I was so shocked and horrified he would say such a thing. Even if it wasn't just a cough. I was so mortified - and loud, the judge was going to hold me in contempt if I didn't quiet down. I love the slogan: 'I SEE STUPID PEOPLE'. |

what the heck is wrong with that lady!!! good job coco for peeing on their grass-hahahaha!!! Why in the world would she say to leave her in you CAR!?!?!?!? and you had a carrier??? i don't get it! |

That's why I like Mexico! You can take your babies anywhere!! Poor Coco! You have to really watch those 2 pounders, they might hurt somebody!!! Hi Coco, dis is Wexy! Oh My!! How dare she tell you to leave her in the car!! I'm glad you stood up and said something! I bet Coco had a good relaxing day though enjoying the air conditioner ;) |

That is ridiculous.....leave the baby in the car in the heat..IS SHE NUTS????...Maximus and I went through a similar experience going to a 4th of July or memorial day picnic (can't remeber which)..we had to drive for like 3 hours to get there after my bf's friend was assured (or so she says) that dogs were allowed ONLY to see a huge NO DOGS sign...so while we had to pay I had Maximus hidden by my feet eating a chew..praying that he wouldn't bark...we passed that hurdle just to have a park ranger say that we couldn't bring dogs..he saw my bf holding his carrier...but he didn't see the dog..he was in the soft sided carrier that I have that looks like a purse..my bf had out our loose items in there and he just told the ranger we didn't have an animal we were just using it as a carrier for our stuff...For once in his life Maximus didn't make a peep...but I did have to hide him everytime the rangers drove around and people came to clean out the garbage pails...he doesn't even know too pee or poop outside...he actually peed on a napkin someone had dropped and pooped on his wee wee pad that I had down...we left after 2 hours though because it wasn't really fun for him |

I was pretty mad, not only at the fact that they NO LONGER allowed dogs but that she was telling me to leave her in the car. It was like 110 degrees at the lake. It's called Yosemite Lake in Merced, CA. It sucks. I wanted to go somewhere else but we had a ton of family with us. So my cousin came with me and we made a 2 hour drive roundtrip to take her home. It sucked! |

LEAVE HER IN THE CAR?!?!? i swear..some people are just flat out dumb..What kind of person would tell you to leave 2lb dog in a car in the middle of the summer... |
