Dog Boarding Questions We have been planning on going on vacation to Tennessee the weekend of June 13, 14, 15. We thought it would be no problem finding someone to watch Holly, my Yorkie, and Jessie and Katie, our 2 boxers. But the more that my husband and I talk about it, we really dont know or have anyone that we trust to come come and let the dogs out, and feed and water them. I was thinking about checking in to boarding them for the weekend, but was wondering what people's experiences have been, and how much it was to board them. I am going to call around my area in Indiana and see but wanted to kinda get an idea. If any one has any experiences on how much it was and if you felt comfortable please let me know, thanks! |
We've boarded many times and have had relatives watch our pups over the years. Since ours are both young (5 months) we're boarding them when necessary until they are completely housebroken. We've boarded at a variely of kennels and they were always fine when we picked them up, though sometimes they've come home very smelly. The last time we found a free-roaming doggie daycare that will keep them long term. They are in a small baby-gated room at night, just our 2 pups together, then allowed out to play with the other pups during the day (if they want to, they don't have to). This weekend we have to board them 2 nights, and I feel fine leaving them there. I suggest you go check the places out that find. Vets often board, too. Prices around here (Ohio) vary from 15 to 25 a night. Good luck and don't worry, they will be fine! |
boarding questions I boarded Latte for the first time last year. I checked into the kennels closest to my house and then gave myself a mental lecture that went something like this: There are people who leave their children-babies- with a sitter all day while they go to work. If they can find someone to take care of their OFFSPRING, I can find someone to take care of my dog. I am a grown-up; I can do this! Ok, I did call them after a day and a half and I did cry a little bit when I put her in that HUGE (to her) kennel. But she was just fine and I am confident she will be again when we go to Vegas for our 25th anniversary. Just go check out the places yourself and ask a lot of questions. Our babies are so cute, I know they get special spoiling where ever they stay. |
