As far as training my dogs go - Franklin is still a puppy and Maggie is adopted, we just got her a few weeks ago. I go to school and work full time and don't have the time to devote to training my dogs in every single area. They are potty trained and know how to sit and walk on a leash. That's enough for me. I don't think it's that much to ask for someone to not leave their food on the couch or on the floor. I think any dog, no matter how well trained, would be hard pressed to not be interested. And have you ever had a dog? Accidents happen. |

Problem is, this room mate doesn't sound like someone who wants to learn about *how* dogs learn, so....? Is there any way you could find a different person to live with? |
I agree w Wylies mom on the roommate situation.........also Shuber has a good point............people need to have positive experiences w dogs which we can provide........ |
Some non-dog people are really irritating. More often than not, it is not about your dog is being trained or not, they just do not like dogs period and that creates problems when you live together. Not everyone likes dogs and everyone have their own choices, I just personally find people who do not like dogs are more cold-hearted. I do not put my dog above people but I wouldn't back down if someone try to treat my dog bad either. After all, it is our job to protect and look after them. |
What a terrible situation to be in.:( It does seem like non dog people are a slightly different breed than us dog lovers.:p As far as training goes, I'm sure it's possible to teach a dog not to eat food that is sitting right on the couch but it should be unnecessary. It's almost like teasing them. I'm sorry I don't have any advice but just wanted to offer my support.:) |
Why not have your roommate and your Yorkie sit down for a private talk. I'm sure over time, your roommate will learn how kind, considerate, helpful, cute, affectionate, sexy, and entertaining a Yorkie can be. If not, then your roommate has problems girlfriend! |
