Are bowls made of melamine OK? I bought a couple of plastic bowls tonight. At home I use ceramic bowls, but I need plastic ones for traveling. I noticed when I got home that are made of melamine. I believe that is what caused all the pet food recalls. I did some research and it's commonly used to make housewares, so I don't think they would use it if it wasn't safe for pets. I'm confused. Can I still use them or should I return them? |
Sorry I cant help |
I would like to know too because I feed my cat out of melamine baby bowl. |
It will be fine for something that you use ocassionally since you use stainless at home. The melamine was in the food and they were eating it. That was what the problem was. Just don't let them eat the bowls. :p :D ETA: It won't hurt them to eat out of it or we couldn't feed our children from them. |
1 Attachment(s) When I was a kid, everyone used melamine, and look at me, I turned out fine. |

i wouldn't take the chance. their systems are sensitive. they have mini stainless bowls @ target for $1. they are light and easy to travel with. |
I probably wouldn't take the chance either. For Slade I bought some small stainless steel bowls at Walmart and thats what we use when he travels (and at home too). |
