First Heat :) Ok one quick question. Well maybe not that quick lol :) Mandy is a little over 6 months. I am not sure if I will eventually breed her most likely not, because of size (3.4oz) and other reasons such as time. Jack is 12 1/2 weeks old. If she goes into heat in the next couple months will Jack be able to impregnate Mandy???  If not what age would he be able to?? Thanks :thumbs up :usastar: :aimeeyork Jack and Mandy's Mom :aimeeyork :usastar: |
I'm no expert in the canine reproductive department, but I don't think your Jack will be to get Mandy pregnant. I'm pretty sure he's got more maturing to do before he'll be able to do that. |
your little man is not mature enough. Male breeding age could be as early as 7 months (but rare) usually give or take a year....Next heat watch out! |

I know of a female who came in heat 5 months after her last heat and another who came in heat 5 months after her pups were born. Usually it is 6 months. I have a 3.8# female who is 9 1/2 months old and she hasn't come in heat yet. Ok, by me. My oldest female didn't come in heat until she was 13 months old and a little over 6#. With the smaller ones it kind of makes sense that it would take longer for them to mature. With my older one I think it had something to do with her first 5 months before I got her and I think she was malnourished. |
First Heat The time between heat cycles varies with bloodlines. Mine generally come in season every 8 months. But I have some that come in every 6 months and over the years have had a few that cycled every 11 months. Your best bet is to ask the breeder of your girl. Usually, girls follow the pattern of their mother. |
I have a "baby" girl Gizzie who is nearly 13 months and absolutely NO sign yet of her becoming a little lady!!! Seriously wonder whether she ever will!! Ana xx :aimeeyork |
VERY UNLIKELY! Males do not come into age until around 7 months. And Mandy is too young and also too small to breed.. If you decide to do so in the future, I would really do your homework, because she is TOO SMALL! |
Heat cycle Thankyou all so very much for the info. Yes i agree very much so. Mandy is to small to breed!!! I was hoping that maybe she would grow a bit more. But I doubt that very much, she may end up to be 4 pounds at the most. That is why the woman that sold me her last month, did not keep her because she was to small. But the funny thing is that Mr. Jack has already bypassed her. He weighs 5 pounds at almost 3 months. :) Thanks again VMS :) |
ANd I don't think you would also want to bred a small female with a larger male.. If you did you would be looking for problems.. |
Heat Nope, :) I know that wont happen. I know that one of them will be neutered or spayed. Most likely Mandy. :)and eventually Jack too. :aimeeyork Jack and Mandy's Mom :aimeeyork :yorkiesar :teethysmi |
