Need advice...bedtime for 2 Yorkies I have a 5 month old male Yorkie that sleeps with me (always has since he was 8 weeks). He never has any accidents and wakes me up every morning wanting to go outside. I'm getting an 11 week old female Yorkie tomorrow. I'm not sure what to do about bedtime for them. Do I allow both babies to sleep with me? Do I get a crate for each of them or one crate for both? Or I could put both in the xpen (kitchen area) and buy a bigger dog bed for both of them to sleep in. I need to go out today and get some pet supplies and was going to look at crates. If I get one or two...which kind should I get? Help I'm really confused! |
In my opinion if you crated the first one, it's feelings would be hurt come bedtime. Why don't you allow both of them to sleep with you? What is so different? |
2 Pups With my 2 they both have a xpen and crate with bed toys etc.. In the kitchen. I suppose it would be sad to see one sleep with you and not the other. However now that they have each other for company, they may just do well cuddling together at night, :animal36 like mine do. Or you can give it a try and have them both in your bed. :) :aimeeyork :animal36 |
I have two and they each have their own crate, in the den. When I got Chloe as a puppy I put her kennel next to my bed and I did not get any sleep, not because Chloe cried, she just grunts or makes other noises and I'm a light sleeper. When I got Lacey I intended to buy one large kennel and keep them together but they play all day and by nighttime they are pretty much ready for their own place, so they have side by side kennels. Works great, in the am they are so excited to see each other, it is really cute the way they interact. I'm not sure either about how it would be to suddently get a new one and get thrown out of your bed at the same time. My instinct says it might be too much but perhaps someone else has more experience. |

Crate training is important, IMO, and even Sully who sleeps with us now, didn't sleep with us for the first couple of months until he was nearly 100% house trained. And like Mari, said, the little one won't know what she's missing out on. But when your little one is housetrained, or nearly anyways, she can sleep with you and Zack. That's what we are going to do when we get another yorkie too - my husband and I might have to get a bigger bed for ALL of us, LOL! |
