I'm a terrible mother to Elvis How many of you step on your baby...regularly? It seems Elvis is always just in my path or shall I say underfoot? especially if I step backwards, I nail him every time and I feel so horribly about it. I've even run over him with my desk chair, yikes! |
i only did that when lexi was small, now i dont step on her as much,, dont know why,, |
I've done it once so far. It scared me more than Lily I think... everybody I talked to made it seem like she would be instantly dead if I stepped on her, but she recovered in about 2 seconds. ;) Me, not so much--more like 2 hours! Definitely more careful now when taking a step backwards!! |
If you get a kitty collar with a bell it helps remind you they are there. |
The bell works wonders. I also think they get more coordinated or learn how to walk under our feet as they get older. I could be wrong...but I stepped on both my kids all the time when they were babies, now almost never. Though sometimes, I still almost fall over and give myself a concussion avoiding their pawsies!!! |
I stepped on mine when they were little then I learned how to do the yorkie shuffle. I never step on them now that they are older. They dont seem to run under your feet |
I can't tell you how many times I've fallen to avoid stepping on Jake! |

you're not a terrible mother...my baby is 2 1/2 and she still finds her way under my feet...we don't wear shoes in the house and she wears bells...lol that works! |
you gotta learn the yorkie shuffle.. just never pick up your feet! LOL |
Tricksie is under foot all of time and I am paranoid. My friend stepped on her Yorkie and killed it. I just walk slowly and keep an eye on her. |
awww....sweet babies just don't want us out of their site! I know how you feel. I think I will try the cat quick release collar w/bell, although Bella hates collars? I've almost shut the bathroom door on Bella many times. She will be in another room sleeping & I will enter the bathroom, shut the door, & all of a sudden this flash will enter.....never know how she can get there that fast??:p sooooo......most of the time I will have company. Sometimes, I will hear this scratch @the door if I've left her out. lol |
LOL, the yorkie shuffle comments are perfect! I never thought about that! I feel better now that I know others have the same problem with under foot yorkies. At least they always forgive you and still love you...thank goodness for their sweet little hearts!:) |
I used to step on Lulu when she was smaller. Now that she is a little bigger, it's not so often but I still have to do the yorkie shuffle. and the bell doesn't work all the time, especially if she just plops herself in front of my feet and doesn't make herself known... |
BELLS are the answer.......almost stepped and sat on KiKi numerous times...now the bell on her collar...lets everyone know where she is.... |
Awee, well accidents do happen, I was so afraid of doing this to Lil Miss Maggy May cause she's so little and I'm used to our big furkids. I read a post on here where the lady scooted her feet and always looked behind her before she sat down and I started doing that. Granted I must have looked a bit funny scooting my feet but hey, Maggy was safer that way, lol. Now I'm used to her and she doesn't try and attack my feet much anymore. Hopefully your furbaby learns quickly not to walk in Mommas path, in the meantime, you might try scooting your feet ;-) |
I did that when he was tiny. :) But because he is soooo big now i dont do it anymore.. I was more scared then Snickers most of the time. :) |
aww yeah I have done it too, I usually try to make sure I know where Duke is at now before I move around but it still happens sometimes, he usually gets under my husbands feet:( The bell on the collar sounds like a good idea! |
With seven dogs my hubby, visitors, and I all learned the shuffle quickly. The fur babies just want to stay so close sometimes. I don't think my feet leave the ground when In walking in the house. |
The 'yorkie shuffle'! haha! I love it.. and definitely know how to do it! I can see how a bell would work really great. When Mia was young, she was stepped on a couple of times, but she knows now to stay away from the feet! She's pretty good about it. |

We need to form a "Yorkie Shuffler Injury Club" - ;) |
I have a colar on Bandit with a bell on it so I know where he is at all times which is usually under my feet anyways he moves so fast its hard to keep track of him lol. For some reason everyone seems to trip over him but me....I guess its just a mother instinct to know where he is at all times lol. I definately recomend the colar with a bell. |
I still do that to Cinderella! One second she's in the living room, the next second she's right by my feet in the kitchen! |

Our little Skeeter has already learned to scream as loud as he can if he even THINKS he is going to get stepped on. That scares our german shepherd to death!:lol tears |
I step on Bear all the time ... he is constantly chasing my feet because he wants to play with them, lol. Hopefully when he gets older he will outgrow this. I do the Yorkie shuffle, but sometimes I still do step on him. He always recovers quickly though :) Amy |
You are not an horrible mother . This morning , I almost killed myself felling of the stairs . Mingtoy was really agitated and I didn't want to step on her . |
Don't feel bad. They love to be underfoot. Penny can be in a sound sleep and if I get up she is right there. I've learned to look for her all the time. Although today she was coming toward me and I came around the corner and stepped on her foot. I really felt bad. But she's ok. She got some XTRA kisses and she was all better.:) |
