Blood vessels in my Yorkie's eye My 10 weeks old male Yorkie (Niko) has been diagnosed with kennel cough over a week ago. They put him on antibiotics but he began to have a blood in his stool so with the vet advice we discontinued giving it to him. He was still on cough suppressant. Last night I took him to the emergency because I panicked, as he was lethargic, had warm nose, has had not eaten ANYTHING (even treats) for over 10 hours and would not take his cough suppressant for nothing. Well, everything turned out OK. His X-rays did not show any signs of pneumonia, blood sugar was OK at 114 and he did not have a fever. Anyway, today we noticed a blood vessel in his eye and something on the outside of the eye as well. I do not know how to call that, but it is a very tiny dot. There is no discharge from the eyes or anything. Should I be worried or it will just go away as we give him the new antibiotic? If someone knows anything about it, please let me know. Thank you Damian |
Hi, just wanted to welcome you to YT. Sounds like you've been having some major problems with your little guy. Joey just recovered from cornea ulceration, and the major symptom was not being able to open his eye all the way and broken blood vessels. I called the vet because I didn't know if this was serious, and they said that ANYTHING to do with the eyes is serious because certain things can lead to blindness. Definitely give the vet the call; the fact that your dog isn't eating is a serious symptom. Dogs unlike humans don't cry, and one of the ways they show us that they are suffering is by not eating. I was terribly upset when I found out that my little guy was in a great deal of pain and I didn't even know it. Let us know what the vet says. |
