What about Biewers Question? Are Biewers, in the yorkie breed? I've seen several on this site and I didn't realize they were yorkies. Are they non shedding as well? They are beautiful. What are the prices of these? |

Biewers are more expensive then regular yorkies because it is a new breed and I noticed when i was looking to buy one that most of the parents were imported from Germany. All the breeders I found were selling them for $3000.00, I decided a regular yorkie was a better deal for me and I got my London for only $750.00 WOW! |
I have both a Biewer, and a yorkie. There are so many similarities. A Biewer is definetly a yorkshire Terrier. There is a genetic difference causing the color difference. They do not shed, although I think most I have seen have a more dense coat than the original yorkie. They are just as affecionate and playful as their brothers. I love my Biewer, and yes he was more expensive; but I love my yorkie too, and I could not put a price on either.:) |
Biewer website information About the Biewer Terrier Club of America Paragraph towards the bottom " The BTCA, Inc. knows that the Biewer is not a purebred Yorkie and finds it insubstantial to attempt breeding to a Yorkie standard. There are only a few lines that the parents and grandparents can be positively confirmed, the rest you have to rely on what appears on the pedigree. We believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that quite a few of those pedigrees are falsified. So, if you have not been privy to the mating of dogs you cannot affirm that the pedigrees are genuine." I am not making any comments, decide for yourself how you want to interpret this. Have fun. |

Here are a couple more Biewer Club websites if you are looking for more on the history of the Biewer. They are the Bytnc and BBCI We welcome you to the Biewer Breed Club International...Exclusively breeding Biewer to Biewer! index |
The Biewers are non-shedding. The Biewers are hypo-allergetic. The Biewers are not quite as yappy as the Yorkie. The BTCA Biewer Club is investigating the heritage and genetic make-up of the Biewers. The club recently had a genetist speak about the genetics of what makes a Biewer a Biewer. There is much to learn. New information has recently been posted at Biewer Terrier Club of America |
Thank you for all the info. I have 3 yorkies, 11 3 &2. I think I'll stick with what I have. I just thought the Biewers were sooo pretty. I used to have a Pekingese that looked alot like the Biewers I have viewed on here and just didn't know if they were actually yorkie or not. |
