A Smart Way to Prolong a Walk Pao has discovered a way to prolong his walks lately. We walk to the park every day for about 45 mins-1 hour and we do run so it is not like he has not enough walk but every time when it is time to go home and we are heading out the park, he starts to sniff really slowly and every single patch of grass and you can see it in his face that he is doing it to prolong his outing time and the nearer we get to our house the slower he does it and the longer he takes for every patch of grass. Yorkies are just so smart. I swear that they can think and come up with plans to trick humans! |

too smart |
Gee, that's so funny; Joey does this too. Like they are smelling something so awesome, so magnificent, and communicating with this smell. I know a dog's sense of smell is truly remarkable, but I often wonder what it's really like as he seems to get so much pleasure doing this. |
Hahaa, my Chi does that too! It's like she knows that we're getting closer & closer to home, & she doesn't want to go back home! I must admit though that it gets kind of annoying ... I'll tug on her leash & she won't budge until she's ready, lol. Amy |

I am amused...this is hysterical. Funny, smarty pants he is and I bet he knows it too! |
Heh heh, sneaky little Siu Pao! |
Ha ha, Hot Rod does the same thing! He just takes one step, sniffs and really gets into it, then another step, sniffs again and so on.... |
Lol These yorkie are so clever! Isn't amazing what they come up with to get what they want! They're lucky they're so darn cute! |
When Sadie wants to delay the walk home, she constantly squats and piddles. It is so darn funny, as her bladder is almost empty, but she manages to leave a little wet spot on the black top. She will stiffen up, and feels like she weighs a ton. Very stubborn! |
That IS hilarious! Oh, they know exactly what they're doing. When Chewie gets into something he's not supposed to and he gets told NO, he looks at me like..MAMA! You hush! I know you aren't hollerin' at me! Then he starts barking back like he's sassing me...like a toddler! It's crazy how smart they are  |
They are very smart. We can train them but they can also easily train us! Yesterday, Pao did something wrong and I said to him "Naughty!" and then I sat down on the floor to do my work on the laptop ignoring him. He knew I was really mad at him because he is usually very well-behaved and I don't usually get mad at him so when I do, I can see he feels very bad for making Mommy upset. He just keep poking me with his wet nose and lean his whole body on me while doing it and he won't go away until I pat him again. It is as if he is saying please don't be upset with me Mommy..Once I pat him, he thinks yay everything is great again, Mommy not upset with me anymore and then proceed to go play  little monkey :) |

hahaha what a little monkey he is! hahaha |
Nice!!! Momiji is opposite. She doesn't like walking.... by 20 minutes in she starts give me "Mom, will you carry me?" looks on her face.... If there is no one on the street, she won't walk. She needs some motivation to walk and sometime there are just no one on the street and she stops walking....... |
Your are so right and I truly believe your Yorkie is prolonging going home because Bud does almost the samething. There are so many different ways we walk around our complex that he has learned them all and knows exactally what turns are shorter. When I'm tired and want to cut the walk alittle shorter I'll take a shorter path and the stinker will stop and look around and I swear to you will sit down and not budge until I change route and go the longer way.;) Smart ass that he is. You can't win with this breed. Their way or no way:D |

Pao dashes out of the door as if he has never been out when he is on leash although we are working on that now because I need to be the pack leader and I need to step out first :p. He is faster than lightning on the way to the park. Its like "Mommy please walk faster or can't you run! Hurry up!" and he pulls like no tomorrow so we run a little on the way to the park. A very nice old lady (neighbour) once said to me, "I always see you running down the street, why is that?!". LOL. When we reached the park, its a huge park, he walks normal pace and smell normal pace and then when we start to head home, I have to motivate him to walk...I think a big fat pig would have walked 10 times faster than him. And when he sees people, he stops expecting everyone to pat him  Its nice when they are dog lovers, not nice when they are not..you'll get the get your dog away from me stare. Archie, you are right..they are very stubborn.. I find yorkies are very stubborn when they have their mind set on something, it is hard to make them stir away from it. |
Kacee loves to go out in her yard, but not without me! But that's OK, because that way I feel better knowing she is safe. It's fenced, but she doesn't like to be out there alone. She loves to sit out in the yard with me, or should I say "on me".:D It's just so much fun to go on those walks, too. That is the first thing she asks for every evening. |
Sydney is opposite too. She acts like the leash is the worst thing in the world. She acts like she is so scared of it. She won't walk....so i usually end up carrying her. Any suggestions on how to get her to be unafraid as i would love to show her off in the neighborhood.. |

She is like 'What? Do you know WHO I am??? I am Momiji, the pretty little dog. Pat me pat me!!!" Yes, I don't take her for a walk every day since she doesn't walk!! Yes, I am lucky!!! :D |
