Gracie smells like Frito's. It's due to allergies. When her allergies flair up, she smells like a big bag for Frito's. We take Gracie to an allergy specialist and she said allergies cause the smell. Our regular vet has said this as well.:animal-pa

Oh wow! That's good to know!

Gizmo doesn't smell like Fritos, but I had to smell them to check. lol! :rolleyes:

LOL, Judy. No, he didn't smell like Fritos when he was here. He is perfectly healthy. We just love your little guy.

Faith's feet smell like fritos and she likes to make you smell her feet when you hold her in your arms she will put her feet right on your nose its like she's saying smell my feet. Yoda just smells like dog.

It sounds like you may be suggesting that anyone whose dog smells like Fritos needs to see an allergist and is unhealthy. While it is possible for an ingredient in the diet to cause a certain smell, you must remember that not all dogs suffer from allergies. If this is the only "symptom" a dog shows, I certainly wouldn't worry about it, especially since it's highly preferable to the "wet dog" smell.

I've talked about frito paws for years, every dog i've ever owned had frito paws. so it certainly isn't breed specific lol

I've heard about this on yorkietalk before. I once had a yorkie that smelled like Cheetos!

Haha! Thank you for all your replies. It's good to know my Xena isn't the only yorkie who can sometimes smell like fritos. :D

I was once watching a dog show with my hubby and when they put the Yorkie up on the podium to be judged, the commentator explained that pure-bred Yorkshire Terriers have the been said to have a very distinct natural odor, like that of corn chips!!! He was just explaining not-so-well known facts about the different breeds of dogs and my hubby and I thought it was hilarious because we have said before that Tino sometimes smells like Fritos when he hasn't had a recent bath! I have since tried to find out what exactly makes this happen, but haven't really come up with a solid answer :rolleyes:
