Fits Bailey has had ANOTHER fit, he has had blood tests done and found it was not his liver which i was really happy about thinking it might have just been a one off like 2 in a 2days then no more. He has nearly been 4 weeks with out a fit and then yesterday morning he had a fit in the kitchen. i phoned my vet who said he would phone me back but he never called me :confused: last time the vet said that if it is not his liver then it might be in his brain?? meaning Epliepsie. I feel so upset about it coz i was wishing he didnt have another one :( Has anyone else had this, where there furbaby was having fits and it was not there liver? I just want to know whos babies have had fits and what was wrong with them so i have an idea what might be wrong. I feed him nothing different and he does nothing different when he has them. He is always asleep when he has them?? so its not like he was excited and then has one. They last about 30-40 seconds and he goes to the toilet straight after. When he comes round its like he has no clue where he is and is very scared and upset its horrible to see :( if anyone could give me some sort of idea what else might be wrong with him as i really dont want him to have Epliepsie. thanks xx |
I am sorry about your baby. I have only had one dog have a seizure and that was a few months ago and it was very scary. Maybe a visit to a neurologist can find out what is going on. I will keep him in my prayers. |
:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat:!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! |
I would definately get a consultation with a neurologist (especially since your vet seems to be taking too long to respond). It sounds like a seizure, especially epilepsy with the peeing/pooing right after and acting confused. I do hope your baby is ok |
Poor little guy - you may need to see a new vet asap - one of those seizures could kill him :( and it's not normal for any puppy to have a seizure :( GOOD LUCK ! |
Oh, I am so sorry you are going through this. When humans have epilepsy, there are certain drugs that help reduce the symptoms, and sometimes can be controlled very well. I sure hope you can find a good doctor to help you and Bailey. Here's a link to an article on canine epilepsy:What causes seizures in dogs? As you can see from the article many doctors take a wait and see approach, and I wonder if that's what yours is doing? |
First and foremost I wish the very best for Baily, I know from experience what you are going through. Winston too has what I call seizures/hypoglycemia. I have not been able to determine which comes first. But the vet has documented his low blood sugar and NutriCal seems to bring him out of it. I should take him to a Neurologist to help decide whether it is Epilepsy or Hypoglycemia...but for now I see that he eats frequent/small meals throughout the day. He still has the episodes, but not nearly as frequently. He is 4 years old now...and weighs about 8 pounds, so he is not a puppy nor is he tiny. I am very interested in what you learn about Bailey...so please keep me posted...it just may help me figure out what is wrong with my boy. Again, get well wishes to Bailey and a big hug to you...I know it's hard to watch your baby having seizures and I know you just want to prevent them from ever happening again. |
Oh, I'm so sorry. My little Lily had seizures, and I know how terribly scary they are!!! I would take your baby to see a neurologist ASAP!! Seizures are soooo hard on these little ones.:( I will keep you and Bailey in my prayers!! |

Sorry to hear that your baby is having fits and I hope he is ok and doesn't have epilepsy. My Mom's dog Spike has epilepsy and is now on Phenobarbital it took a while to get him on the right dosage. Spike stared at around 3 months old it was so scary he was upstairs and gave out this horrible cry and when we got to him he was stiff as a board and had messed himself a little and had vomited a little. Now that he is on Phenobarbital it seams to happen far less and not as severe he is 6 years old and doing good. |

I think that is what I would do, maybe he knows of someone. What makes your case unique is that this happens when sleeping, I hadn't heard of that before. |
I do believe there is such a thing as Nocturnal Epilepsy...I will have to do some research to be sure. Anybody else ever hear of this? |
