Food for the big & small? Can anyone recommend nutricious adult dog food that is in small enough bites that my yorkie can eat it as well as my boxer? They all have to be on the same food or they throw fits, fight and eat eachothers.... But anways I have nutro adult small bites and my dogs are fed up with it. They wont eat it anymore. I need something yummy but healthy |
how bout Bil-Jac...i THINK its healty  |
Chewy loves Natural Balance. The kibble is bigger than, say, Royal canin but he does ok with it. It would probably be the perfect size for your boxer. |
You have Yorkies..... and a Boxer? So do I!!! Our Boxer is Boo and she is GREAT with the Yorkies. I feed Innova EVO, it is great for both! |
I did TONS of research on dog food. Innova is FANTASTIC and has small bites for adult dogs. Is is very healthy food. You can't find it in a regular dog store (i.e. PetsMart, Pet Food Express, etc.). It is only at speciality stores but isn't too pricy. In my findings, California Natural, Solid Gold and Natural Balance are also good choices. Good luck. Do your research first! I found that many food did not contain the right amount of protien and fat for a smaller breed. These ones above are all good choices above. |
Your yorkie is so small, I'm not sure. We had the same problem. I have switched everybody to chicken soup adult, they all seem to eat it fine, but your Chloe is so small I just don't know how she'd do eating it. The pieces are not large but they are a little bigger than the puppy bites. |
My sister feeds her Maltese Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul and it has kibble that is smallish enough for a tiny dog and probably substantial enough for a bigger dog. She raves about it and (at least around here) it's pretty cheap too. A 5lb bag of it actually is cheaper than a 5lb bag of the Nutro I feed my dogs. |
Natural Balance! |
I have yorkies. My biggest issue is finding food that meets nutritional needs and is small enough for a tiny yorkie. I started with Science Diet, then moved to a combo of Natural Balance food roll combined with Royal Canin and now Innova combined with Royal Canin. Mine like the last two, with a little Natural Balance Lamb roll. |

Chicken Soup |
Iams! Being that I have 5 small pups and a German Shorthair and one very limited budget, I have found that Iams offers small enough bites for my 3 lb. chi while still fulfilling my GSP. There are two varities that offer small bites: Iams Mini Chunks and Iams Lamb & Rice. I tend to stick with the mini and use L&R as back up as the pieces are a bit larger. I used to feed Eukanuba but when the head count went from 2 to 6, a change had to be made. I'm sure that there are some of you cringing out there, but hey, it's better than Pedigree!! :thumbdown |
Shana and ChattiesMom ~ I too have a Yorkie AND a Boxer and like you Shana, a Chi. I LOVE my babies. My Boxer, Beowulf, is sooo sweet with Piper and Piper follows him around like a little kid brother. I also have the food problem since Beo loves to eat Piper's food and Piper loves to eat Beo's food. This thread is helpful to me also...THANKS!! :D |
