grapes are dangerous?? I just saw this and again I have to say I am shocked. That was my other yorkies favorite thing!!! He would eat them like crazy, at least a few times a week and he lived 14 years! |
Yes they are toxic to dogs so are raisins. They cause kidney failure |
Yea I know what you mean. I was quite shocked when I read that too. My brother and grandparents always give Chip (my mom mini schnauzer) grapes. He'll be 10 in July and they've never effected him. I made sure they didn't give any to Meeko when we were visiting 2 weeks ago. Meeko is a lot smaller than Chip and I don't wanna take the chance. I've recently told them not to, so hopefully they'll listen. |
I remember when I found this out. I was so shocked. I never knew. Now I don't even like to buy grapes because I am afraid someone will accidentally drop one. |
Wow. Will I guess that makes sense now. Mickey died at 14 from kidney failure. I bet that was it.:( |
1 Attachment(s) I used to have to take my little shih tzu to the vet every couple of months for dehydration and vomiting. She was always a little underweight so if she didn't eat the vet and I both worried. Anyway it dawned on me one day that Cassie hadn't been sick in a very long time and I can only attribute it to not feeding her grapes anymore. She loved them! Here is a picture of her. She is nine years old now and was a puppy mill rescue. |
I recently read that you usually do not see a problem at the time, but that the damage builds up in their bodies over time. I too had fed dogs grapes years ago, not knowing the danger :( |
Is this a myth... I had read somewhere a while back, way before YT was part of my life, that as long as you peeled and removed seeds from grapes it was ok for them to consume them... If I ever gave my furbabies grapes it was this way... But I no longer just in case... :2hearts2:I Love My Furbabies :aimeeyorkNygee,:aimeeyorkGizmo & :aimeeyorkGypsy!!:2hearts2: |
