Yorkie Scam BEWARE. I just wanted to post and let you all know that in our local classified section (Asbury Park Press) with a local telephone number of a Baptist Church here in NJ they had a female Yorkie pup listed for $600. I spent my entire morning trying to 1. Contact someone at this number (I kept getting the church answering machine) and 2. Writing an email to the email address regarding the puppy. Now, let me say that I'm the wife of a retired Police Officer and pretty savvy but they had me on this one. Since it was a local telephone number (Especially of a local church) I thought it was legit. I just got an email back (See below) After I received the email I contacted internet fraud at the local prosecutor's office. I am really pissed. I met a gentlemen yesterday (He was my furniture salesman) and he and his wife lost their 13 yr. old Yorkie to that IAMS food problem (The china thing) She died of Kideny Failure. Anyway, I am trying to locate a rescue or a rehome for them and was so excited to find a small female for $600. I was just going to email them to let them know and now I'm glad I did not. How dispointed they would have been. Anyway, below is the note back for this scammer. Elaine __________________________________________________ ___________ Hello, The puppy is AKC Registered, has all shots upto date and she's vet checked. But unfortunately, she's just been adopted, some minutes ago by Mr. Richard, and i was just been contacted by one of my customer that i sold some puppies to who mailed me just now to inform me that they are looking for a caring person to adopt their puppies. Her name is Evangelist Karen Davis, she called me that she has been transfered to West africa on a christian mission, due to her immediate relocation, she went with her husband, and also had her puppies with her overthere. Her commitment to the work of God could not enable her to stay with the puppies often according to her, and that the climatic condition of the country is too harsh for the puppies health, so she needs a caring parent who can adopt the babies back to the United State of America as soon as possible. she will provide the shipping agent to have the puppies shipped back to you and you will only be paying for the shipping fee. I suggest you contact her soon as possible Via Email: karingdavis@gmail.com She will be very much delightfull to hear from you, so as to have this puppies shipped to you asap. She requested, a caring and loving parent for her babies and i am so sure she will be so excited if she knows I directed you to her. Kindly notify me immediately the babies are adopted. Best Regards |
Oh my God. Those scammers make me so mad :mad: I found one online when I was searching google for Yorkies, I came across an ad on a pet finder site for Yorkie puppies, I couldn't resist calling just to ask about them because the pics were so cute. No one answered the phone, but I got an email back, it took exchanging emails 3 times before I discovered it was a scam. The minute they said the pup would be shipped from Cameroon, I knew it. Especially since the puppies were supposed to be local... |
uggggggggg:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad: |
These scammers will stop at nothing!:mad: |
If it listed the churches phone number, do you think someone with the church could be involved? Maybe then you can report it to local police. Or leave a message on the machine, if anyone asks why you didn't e-mail say you don't have internet access. |
I was curious to how they let you believe it was a local church number. Did the answer machine say this, or was this information in the paper? These scammers are getting smarter and smarter. Just hope the furniture salesman's story true, scammers have been working on both sides of the fence, selling non-existent puppies and getting puppies at cheap prices for resell. I remember reading a thread awhile back where you busted a scam ring wide open. Good job, bet your husband's proud! |
The telephone number I called was a local number in Neptune, NJ. When you call you get the answering machine of a Baptist Church. Do I think someone at the church may be involved? The answer is I'm not sure but probably. How else would they get that telephone number and put it down in the paper. I think this is why I'm angry the most. A church involved with something like this. Sickens me even more. In so far as the furniture salesman. He's legit. We bought our sofa and loveseat yesterday from him. We started talking when I said I have little Yorkies and need something durable. He's in his late 60's. He welled up with tears when he said that he and his wife had to put their 13 yr. old yorkie down in December due to Kidney Failure from that pet food problem. He wasn't looking for anything. Hubby told him I was involved with rescue and I volunteered to look for him. He does not want to buy from a breeder or pet store. He wants to rescue. And, he's aware of the price for a rescue. He's just trying to give a home to a dog that really needs it. He's even open to a small mix that is mostly Yorkie. Let's hope that no one falls for this bs in the paper. I'm going to contact the prosector's office (Internet fraud) not that I expect to get anyone on a Memorial Weekend Friday. Elaine |

Wow that is horrible!! And to do it behind a church's front! Talking about being in Africa for church and "Her commitment to the work of God". I really hope someone doesn't fall for this. Scammers have reached a new low. When we thought they were at their lowest! I hope the authorities you talking can do something. Good luck! Especially with helping that man and his wife find a rescue! |
I know what you mean! I was searching on the Houston classifieds section, and emailed a couple of listers...who emailed back some bs about being on a christian mission in Nigeria, send money, blah blah blah---I emailed the fraud department--another Nigerian scam!!! sent their email addresses to my spam filter. Not opening any of them. Be careful!! Creeps are everywhere..grrrrrrr |

I recieved that same exact email when I was looking for my fur baby Onni. I had emailed a Yorkie site and recieved that email. I knew it was scam so never bothered responding. |
That same add was in my local paper here in Texas. My husband called and got the same e-mail...:mad: |
:mad: I'm sick to my stomach. My sister-in-law has e-mail a lot of people pretending to be close by and she always shes something like that. Sometimes it's being the same message from "different" people. It sickens me.:mad: |
