My little barking lunatic!
 

Bridget & Coco’s playdate went much better last night – as Nobella mentioned in her post, neutral turf, a brisk walk together and frequent interaction between the two seem to be the ticket. They played really cute together last night and I think it’s going to continue to improve.

However, I’m beginning to wonder if Coco is going to end up being Bridgets only canine buddy! She barks at every dog she encounters. On walks, in the park, downtown, etc. She goes absolutely nuts when she sees another dog and I have a tough time getting her attention or calming her down. "No bark" command, penny can, distraction, etc. - it isn't working.

The other night on a walk downtown Bridget was calm and loving to everyone we met, even kids. Kisses all around. On the way back we encountered a couple of other dogs. As soon as a dog is in her line of sight she goes ballistic. Barking like crazy. Once we are out of sight of the dog, she’ll settle down and be just fine. At home, Bridget is a sweet, docile and loving dog. She hardly ever barks at home. Outside is a completely different story. Is she destined to have no doggie friends or even pass one on the street without going nuts? Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Just your SUBJECT TITLE had me laughing - and I know it's not funny to you -there is training that can help though I'm clueless as to what you can do -

I just wanted to say that your 'barking lunatic' :) may calm down as she grows up a bit more - She sounds typically female...yap yap ...lol !! Sorry - but your post was kind of funny and I am NO help so I will stop here.

It's almost like she's yelling to anyone who will listen..."HEY YOU ! I'm on my WALK ....waddya think of THAT ?"

HAHAHA Vilette that is too funny. Her bark does have that ring to it. The "What are you doing on my walk??". Its funny though, I told Tatia, she totally has the bark but not bite. In the middle of her barking frenzy once, I gave her a kiss and she was kissing me all over and would bark and kiss. So she's super loving, but I think maybe tries to intimidate others, so they leave her alone. She's too cute to be destined to be a loner. Besides she's got coco now. :p

maybe she is yelling at everyone to come closer so she can play with them. lol

That is what Maximus does...but he really gets himself worked up...HE HAS to go say hi, otherwise he will bark and bark...people must think he is really mean...BUT that's not the case..he is just soo excited to see another person, dog, bird..that he wants to go over and lick..but sometimes this isn't an option...we have these 2 scary looking dogs and their owners are the scariest part of them!!!
