Morgan's at the vet now! I am beside myself! I brought her to work for a short time before dropping her off for her spay and hernia operation. They told me she would be in surgery between 10 and 10:30 this morning. I can't stop watching the clock! They did weigh her this morning for me before I left. She is a little over 14 months old and now weighs 4lbs. 11.5 ozs. Does having the surgery cause them to lose any weight? Does it affect their appetite? I am leaving work an hour early today so I can get her picked up. Plus I am off for the next 4 days so I will have plenty of time to be with her. Thanks for listening. I know you all understand how I am feeling. |
I don't have an answer for you but I hope all goes well. She will be in good hands with you at home!:) Hope she has a speedy recovery. |
Sending lots of prayers and healing thoughts your way. I hope everything goes well.:) |
Sending a prayer for Morgan! Let us know how she is doing! |
Im sure that Morgan will be fine, it's you that will be a wreck. I was when I got my 2 done and they just bounced back great and where fine. Makesure you get her an baby onesie to wear so she wont so near her wounds, it's much better than the collar thing the vets give!! Also makesure that your vet gives you some extra pain meds to give at home they are a life saver. our little one will be tired tonight but by tomorrow she will bounce back.Just keep an eye on her as they sometimes want to jump about when they should not. good luck and try and keep yourself occupied.:) |
Thanks for all the help and reassurance! It has been a long day so far. I have called the vet twice to see how she is. When I call again at 2 I will be able to talk to the tech and get all the information. I had them do the laser surgery on her. I guess its supposed to be an easier recovery. I bought a onesie the other day, hopefully with it on she will leave everything alone. Just a few more minutes and I can call! The second time I called this morning I apologized right away before I even said who I was. The receptionist started laughing. She said I knew it was you! Its just that the last time I had a dog go in for surgery he didn't make it through it. He had a mass that they needed to take out and he didn't survive. So needless to say I have been nervous about another surgery of any kind. Thanks again! |
As far as losing weight, my Feather was spayed Apri 1st weighing in at 2.6 lbs. She now weighs 2.75lbs so she has gained almost 1/4 lb in less then 2 mo. |
Ok, now I'm worried! I called a little bit ago to check on Morgan. The vet tech said she is doing fine. She said I can pick her up after 3. Well, I can't get off of work until 5 and she said that is fine. She said now when you get here the doctor wants to talk to you. I said for what? She said its nothing major he just wants to talk to you when you pick her up. The way she talked this didn't seem like what they normally do. Now my mind is wandering as to what the doctor wants to talk to me about!! |
Please keep us posted. Tricksie had the laser with no down time and never stopped eating. |
When I had Frimousse spayed , my vet wanted to talk to me before I went home with . She gave me instructions on how to take care of her after the surgery . Maybe your vet want to talk to you about it . |
Morgan is home and doing well! The vet wanted to talk to me because when they were putting her to sleep she had a little trouble breathing. Just in case we have her operated on for some reason down the road with a different vet he wanted to make sure we were aware of the problem. Otherwise he said she did fine. She is in her bed sleeping right now. I feel so guilty! I know its for her own good though. Thanks everyone! |
Nice to hear your baby is home and doing well. |
So happy she is home safe and sleeping |
Glad to see that Morgan is doing well and is on the mend.:) |
So glad your baby it doing good. With Faith after she was spayed she gained a pound, and my vet told me that most dogs end up gaining a little weight after it (not a whole pound though, that was just us). |
