Should I take my yorkie camping? My family seems to think I should but I am unsure. On one hand, Ambrose LOVES to be outside. I think he would have a great time. On the other hand, he is a little house dog. I'd worry about him. What do you think? |
I don't have an answer, I hope someone can help.I've taken Max in the boat with us for a weekend, he loves the water and even has his live vest, but after a while, you can tell he misses home. Also remember the heat, and fleas/ticks. |
I am taking my Baby camping in July to a remote campsite in Greeneville ME. I will bring his bed to put in the tent, some toys, bottled water from home, his food,a fleece hoodie, lifejacket and a towel for him. I'll also pack a doggie emergency kit. They have a stickie posted on the Health forum on what should be in the kit. If your Baby loves to be outside then I say go for it! Mine is also going to Acadia National Park in October too :) (jeesh I'll be lucky if I can fit any of the gear for me and my husband :p ) |
i would for sure~ just make sureyou bring some chidlren's liquid benedryl in case he gets biten by something! |
I would take him. We always take ours |
Hi! Can you tell us how old he is? Has he had all his shots? Is he on flea & tick prevention? If those are all 'yes' then I'd say go for it! If not, I'd really advise you not to. |
He's nearly 9 months old. All of his shots are current and he on Frontline. |
Take him and have a great time. :):) |
i've been considering tent camping. i'm worried about wild animals attacking us. |
Take him, he will LOVE it and so will you!! We took Jake camping with us last summer, and we had a GREAT time! He seemed to really enjoy being outdoors with us all day. We went tent camping, and he slept just fine with us on an air mattress. I would suggest taking Benadryl in case he gets bitten or stung by something. Before you go, find out what his dosage would be. If he will wear clothes, take warm things for the night time. Sometimes it gets pretty chilly at night, even in the summer months. We took an expen, and we were able to keep him right with us. We took lots of toys and one thing that came in really handy was his doggy chair! That way, we could keep him off the ground when the grass was wet from dew in the mornings. We are hoping to go again this summer, and this time we will have Jackson with us too. We didn't have him yet when we went last year. I want to get a doggy stroller, as I can see where one would come in so handy while camping....especially with more than one. |
We always take our dogs camping with us, they love it, Holly went for the first time last year she was about 7 months old. But I would say yes, if you get a chance and are able to take them guys! |
We camp a lot with our pups. They love it. Search camping on this site, there have been multiple past threads about it, and some great advice on what to bring for the pups. Have fun! |
I agree, camping is fun. Just be ultra-careful if there are any predators out there. Also, depending on the type of camping you're doing, it would be nice to have an X-pen to put her in while you're busy doing camp chores. You don't want her under your feet all the time. You might also put together a first-aid kit for her. If you're away from help, you may have to handle any emergencies yourself. |
that will be fun....... :D:doghop::dogwalk::Puppy2: I took shakespeare once and I love it..... and I think he likes it too. |
Enjoy yourselves!!! |
