Help!!!!!!!!!!! Hi! I have a 2 year old 12 pound AKC yorkie. WONDERFUL dog!! I just found an ad yesterday and someone is selling a 1,000.00 APRI registered yorkie that was born in february and weighs 3.25 pounds. OK this may get confusing but I need help! The people who are selling this one got it as a refund for the sick yorkie they got. He is from a different litter. The first litter, while the one I want is from the second litter. The one from the first litter is of course older then this one but has hip issues in which his joint are wearing away. He is only one year old I believe. The one I want is 3 months. I mean, they had the breeder take this guy in and she only verbally told him that he was in good health. i met him today and he seems fine!! They are trying to get 1,000 dollars for him but I got them down to 750 so far since he is not AKC. He is APRI! My AKC was only 500 2 years ago... Anyways, I am just wondering what to do!!!!!!!!! Also, his front claws were black and his back claws were white..any signifigance here? |
So is it the 3 month old puppy from the second litter you want of the year old puppy from the first? Welcome to YT by the way!:D |
it is the 3 month old I want. The seller just emailed me back and told me she would drop the price to 650, so I could use the extra money to get him to the vet and have him checked for everything! plus she will guarantee his health for 72 hours, while i take him to the vet etc.... He is from the same dam and sire I believe as the one year old, but, not sure if he would have the same disease as his brother from a different litter...sorry its confusing! |
welcome to YT! Well, I understand the excitement of getting a new furbaby, but a 72 hr health guarantee isn't saying much, since a lot of health issues might not arise until later. I would consult my vet before agreeing to this. |
If the pup is from the same parents as the older pup ( with hip issues) and the hip issue is genetic there is the chance that this 3 month old pup could have the same problems a few months down the road. Since she is not the breeder she will not give a health guarantee in the event that hip problems arise. If a problem surfaces you will be facing large vet bills. You could contact the original breeder and ask if she will give a written health contract on this pup ,if she says no I would walk away from this one. I would be worried. A dog that has such bad hips at one year old? That is pretty bad. You need to give it some serious thought...decide if you can handle it if he does have these problems later. If it were me, I would keep looking. |
I am just in tears now..I have been up and down about this guy, Im just worried some moron will get him and not care for him if something does arise. I feel like its my fault now if something happens to him. My boyfriend is so controlling he willnot let me get the dog and he says if I do he will leave me. I guess I just get to do what he says..how fair is it. I love this dog and I just dont know how to say no :( Thank you for all the welcomes and help, I appreciate it |
oh, hun, don't take this all on yourself. You will not be able to save every sick or needy pup. You need to think about what you are really willing to deal with, what you have money to pay for, how you will find a vet capable of really dealing with those issues. Now you have me concerned about your own safety. Please think for yourself what you want. Some people are really destined and capable of caring for sick babies. But I'm concerned if you are dealing with a controlling relationship, you may be overwhelmed also taking on a pup that could have health issues. There are so many good breeders on YT. Stick around read, read, read & ask questions. Educate yourself to find a baby who will hopefully bring you years of happiness and live a healthy life |
honestly,I wish I were born without a heart like this. I mean I am bawling like a six year old over not getting a toy, you know? It's the hardest thing for me to meet an animal have these people work so hard to lower the price and tell me they see how good I am to my current dog and they WANT me to have their puppy. Thank you, I think I need to evaluate this relationship a bit because its not fair for your significant other to take away one of the only joys you have in life. My passion, my joy, my love is for animals. I emailed this lady and I feel like I just dropped a bomb on the world..really. Last thing my boyfriend said was if you make this much money (45k) then you can get one...I mean cmon now. Anyways,I am glad I found this place full of people like me that love animals and yorkies...I saw a video once online about animals in shelters and there was a quote from someone famous and it said "You can tell alot about a persons heart by their dealings with the animals." Its true, we that care for animals and save and love them the proper way, are the best kind of people to know. Thank you so much for your help, I hope to keep talking on here, I wish I could get into the chat but it wont let me :( -Kristen- |
