Re Re Medical Problems I was just wondering if any body could please give me any advice my 3 year old yorkie seems to be having difficulty climbing stairs or steps.I have been watching her for a few days but it seem to be getting worse. Do yorkies have problem with there back legs like German Shepards.Please let me know ASAP because if they do have problems i need to take her to the vets. Thanks Joanne |
Yes - Luxating Patella is when their knee cap slides back and forth, it's not life threatening, but it can be painful and cause discomfort and arthritis. Do a search on Luxating Patella and you'll find a wealth of information. LP is Graded 1 to 4 and 4 being the worst case. IMO Grade 3 and 4 should have surgery (by a Board Cert. Ortho Specialist) to correct the luxation and not cause any further damage, as LP doesn't correct itself, and does only get to the worst grade at 'some' point, but each dog is different as to the rate of luxation damage. |
