Car sick :confused:My little Lilly always get car sick. If I know we are going for a long trip I do not allow her to eat alot.. it does not matter she vomit anyway. I do not want to drug her..Is there a herb or something that will help her. I hate leaving her behind.. |
I went through the same thing with MacTavish. We started calling him "Ralph". I contacted my Vet and was told to give him Children's Gravol. I felt the same way about drugging him but I was forced to when my Mother became ill and I had to travel a lot. After three trips of travelling 2 1/2 hrs both ways, he was fine and I don't have to use it anymore. Hopefully, someone else can suggest an herb comparable to Gravol. You might also want to try very short trips, just around the block and then start making each trip longer. Best of Luck! |
This is some information I found: "Many of the show people use Bonine to prevent motion sickness in their puppies/dogs. The dosage is 1/2 pill about an hour prior to trip. Bonine differs from Dramamine in that it does not cause drowsiness and leaves the dog alert and aware. You can purchase it at any drugstore, such as Walgreens." Also google "pet motion sickness" and you should come up with lots of info. I have a Pommie that has motion sickness. I have lots of info saved. Good luck. |
Do you have a carseat for Lilly? When Aria was a puppy she would get car sick too until we got her a console carseat. Well she got sick one last time when we put her in it but probably cause she wasn't used to it yet. I think it helped make her feel a little safer, more comfortable when we drove so she wasn't as nervous. It's worth a try?!? Good luck! |
I would think it is the same as for people, can Lily see out the window? Since Hot Rod has been riding higher and able to look out the window, he has not gotten car sick. Each time I had him in a carrier on the seat, he got sick. Good luck. |
He will get used to the car and get over it. Remi used to be like that, and he is fine now. Rocky was ok with car drives from the beginning. |
