Does your Yorkie like water? We are going to have a mini heat wave here over the next couple of days. I was thinking about getting a little wading pool for the girls to pay in. When I took Gracie to the beach, the wake scared her. Her only other experience with being in water is with a bath. I'm not so sure that she or Holly would appreciate a wading pool, no matter how hot it gets. I was thinking of maybe testing the water so to speak by putting them in the bathtub with just a bit of water in it. What do you think? Does your Yorkie like to play in water? |
All 3 of mine HATE the water. Everytime I bathe them, they act like I am trying to kill them. They are very much like cats. |
romeo hates water. he even gets grouchy if it rains. |
Rigger LOVES to swim!! The first time we went to the beach he went straight into the surf and began swimming. He will also get in a pool and swim. I have also been considering getting a wading pool for him this summer. I think he would love it. |
I tried filling the tub with water and letting them swim but that only scares them, i think it's cause they think they wont be able to get out. So i think that would be totally diff. than getting a small pool or something, if they can jump in and out as they want that would be good. Mine hate the water, except Sophie tolerates it. She stays still when i take her a bath, so does Teddy but i know he hates it! lol |
I agree with the previous post... Chewie LOVES taking a bath. As long as the water is warm, he'll just sit there and relax. He gets his baths in the kitchen sink with the veggie sprayer...LOL...Its really hard to comment about a pool. I'm sure if there's just enough water in there to wade around in and they don't feel confined, it should be fine. Nothing left to do but try it out. Good luck! |
That sounds like fun! Yoda and Winky will be over to the pool straight away! ;) I'll believe the 85+ degree temps when it's actually 85 out... It IS Seattle, after all! My mini weather forecast thingy actually forecasted Rain a few hours ago when I looked at it! We had a kiddie pool one summer when we just had Yoda, he seemed to like it. It wasn't so deep, and it was hot out so he had fun jumping in and out of it, and playing in the yard. Winky probably would like it too, but that's just a guess! As others have said before, the tub is a bit different than a kiddie pool outside. Winky and Yoda both dread bath time, and they try to hide when they hear the water running for their baths... |
My yoda loves his kiddy pool and sprinklers but hates bathes. |
1 Attachment(s) my big boy not a fan but has u can see my girl doesnt have a problem!!! ;) |
I got Layla a kiddie pool.... the inflatable kind.... i put some luke warm water in and she will only go in if her ball is in there too :p so we play fetch.. i'll throw it in and then she brings it out.. it at least gets her in there and she LOVES drinking that water :p |
We have an inground pool and both of my girls love to swim. They will go out in the pool on a float and then jump off and start swimming. The deep end is 8 feet but I try to keep them in the shallow end. It scares me when they get in the deeper water. Our shallow end is about 3 feet deep. I always try only to have one of them in the water at a time and I try to be there with them. Hopefully, this year we are getting life preservers for the girls. I don't know how Lucy will take to the water. We have only had her since March. She hates getting a bath. |

id get a lil pool and see if they like it..... |
Zoe doesn't mind her bath but hates our pool....Lizzie hates her bath but doesn't mind the pool..last summer I was floating around on a floatie half asleep...and all of a sudden I heard some crying and I look over and there was Lizzie on a floatie right next to me....and then she jumped on mine....and even since then If I am in the pool she has to be on a floatie if I'm swimming or laying next to me on my floatie if I'm floating....and we keep all floaties out of the pool if we are not outside cause I really think she would float even if weren't are in there....crazy... |
My two hate being bathed, but love to swim in the pool. |
I have 7 and 3 love the water, including the water bowl, the others hate it but feel much better after I wet them down. I have a blow up wading pool for them. works great. |
No, not really! Tatum tolerates the bath and doesn't squirm but outside, no water. Our Australian Shepherd, Stormie, love love loves to play in the sprinkler! She could do it ALL day but Tatum will run and chase her yappin' her head off until the sprinkler comes back her way.... then she runs like crazy away from it - just to run back at Stormie when the water goes back to the other side. We've never tried a wading pool though. |
EJ loves taking baths but whenever I take him to the dog beach, he has no interest in the water and just plays on the sand. |
Jake and Abigail both love the water. I can't keep them out of it. |
Jeter hates his baths, I have no clue how he will be with a pool though this is his first summer;) |
Mine will swim in the pool, but he would much rather just play in the water on the top step. He loves to get under the waterhose and then play in the dirt and get all muddy! |
Both of mine can swim, but dont do it on their own. They prefer a mister. I put the hose on "mist" and it makes a puddle on the patio. They run through the mist and splash in the puddle, but Zoeybear gave a thumbs down to the baby pool I bought last year.:thumbdown |
Glad to see everyone is into the water "thingy" with the fur-kids. Yesterday and today we have had a heat wave which is very unusual for our area, so I'm going to Wal-Mart to buy a blow up pool for them. Three years ago I bought a molded pool for Zada and Azrael when they were less than a year old, but they would not put one toe in it. They don't mind their baths at all, so I don't understand. Our new baby, Razael LOVES to chase after the water when I have the hose, and loves her bath, so maybe she will be the first one to jump in the pool. Hopefully the other two follow suit. :D |
