Found Yorkie or Silky HELP PLEASE!! My daughter found a lost Yorkie or Silky last night. The poor thing is terribly matted but otherwise seems OK. She took her to the local Emergency Animal Hospital to see if she is microchipped and she's not. Neither of us can afford the medical bills that this poor thing will probably need, but do not just want to turn her in to the SPCA. Does anyone know how we can get in touch with a rescue facility in the Tampa area. Thanks!! |

Poor little thing is probably frightened and terribly scared. I'm so grateful that you took her in and are doing your best to find her shelter. God bless you ...... :heart to |
Call the paper and it's usually free to place a found ad. Put up a free ad on Craigslist. Can you make some fliers and put them up. Just don't give out all the details of this little one or who knows who will claim her |
What is the difference between a Yorkie and a "Silky"? I was under the impression that "silky" was reference to coat type? Anyone? |
Silky as a verb can mean a type of coat. But Silky as a name (Silky Terrier) is a breed of Terriers. They can look similar to Yorkies, but are bigger. Check them out here.American Kennel Club - Silky Terrier |
Your right silky is a reference to coat texture, but there is another breed of dog that is called a Silky terrier. It looks very similar to a yorkie, but is usually bigger and has a longer snout. I don't think it's hair grows as long, but I'm not sure about this. For more information see: American Kennel Club - Silky Terrier I took too long to post, you beat me! |
Great minds think alike! ;) Quote:

Wasn't there a lost yorkie in Fla thread recently? |
Do you have a picture or can you tell us what color she is, what size she is and if she has been spayed or not? |
Is your daughter in Dade City too or near Tampa or farther south? I just spoke to my mom and there is a lost yorkie ad in the paper in Sarasota today. |
Do you still have this little one? |
