Hello to the Yorkie Talk Family I am the parent of newly adopted Ziggy (male), 4 months old. I was very excited to find this forum, I need all the tips and encouragement I can get. Ziggy hasn't been with me a week yet. Will gladly accept any advice on house training in multiple locations, working parents, the doggie litter box, or anything you feel that will be use to a newie. Thanks. Looking forward to your support and encouragement. |
Hi and welcome to YT and the wonderful world of being owned by a yorkie. Take a look around the boards and you will find tons of information. Good luck and again welcome to YT. |
Welcome to YT. This is an awesome place and I'm sure you will get some great advice. :D |
Hello & welcome to YT!!! You will just absolutely fall in love with your new baby....not that you haven't already but each day is better & better & you will just adore him more and more. Here is one tip, believe me, I have many if you need more: Find a great treat that he absolutely loves and use that treat strictly for when he goes potty outside with lots and lots of praise. He will look forward to going outside and getting that special treat when he does his business. :welcome4::welcome4::welcome4: |

Welcome!!! Hi and welcome!!! I have been a yorkie mum for a week, already I can't imagine life without her! Mika has very few accidents in the house, I am a stay at home mum so I watch her for clues! She always wants to go as soon as she wakes, after eating and roughly no more than an hour or two between toilet visits! If you are not at home with him then I suggest crate training him. Make sure the crate is large enough to allow Ziggy room to sleep, eat, play with an area to use as his toilet. Cover the bottom of the crate with newspaper, you may want to provide a litter box or a pee pad for him as far from his eat/sleep area as possible. Although I'm new to yorkies I've had dogs my whole life and crates are the best way to go when you can't be around! When you are around be vigilant and encourage him to go outside! He will get the idea, also I always use a command when I want my dogs to GO, I say 'hurry up' and they know what I mean, sometimes even if they don't need to go, they will squat and try their best! Bless em!!! |

Welcome to YT!! I would recommend crate training or using an x-pen with a pda down at one end, if you are gone for extended hrs of each day. Glad to have you both here |
