President Bush! Apparently we need to go over the heads of those who wont help to shut down puppy mills. Bush is an avid animal lover and even has a couple purebred dogs of his own. I remember seeing an interview they did with him at his home (the white house). He is CRAZY over his dogs. We need to appeal to his heart and have him do whatever is in his powers, to stop this! Here is the contact information for the white house. CONTACT THEM AND ASK FOR HELP! Here is the email I sent to Bush and Cheney. (I used your fact post jbarile..I hope that's ok) I urge all of you to email them as well. Write to them from your heart. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- President Bush and Vice President Cheney, I am writing you in hopes that you can use your power to help shut down puppy mills. There are so many of them across the U.S. and nothing is being done to stop it. The facts: -Dogs are bred & rebred every time they come into heat (twice a year until they die). -They live outside most of the time, in cages with wire bottoms, where they get caught and tear their legs or worse. Sometimes these are stacked where the feces & urine drops down into the cages below. -They are left outside in hot or cold temperatures. Even during rain or snow. It doesn't matter. They are not protected. -Many times there are several in one cage crowded and trapped -The filth is enough to make them sick and there is no veterinary care for those who are sick or injured. -They are never let out of their cages- never loved or handled. -Puppies are born with defects from the abuse. -They are inter bred which can lead to more defects. -They are fed only enough to keep them alive. Most of the time the food and water bowls are empty. -Some puppy millers ram pipes down their throats to keep them from barking. -Puppies are taken from the mothers long before it is time. They are shipped in overcrowded trucks, sometimes across states, and not taken care of. -Brokers take them to pet stores to sell. They have not been checked for defects or any diseases. -When a puppy mill puppy is bought – the owner can end up paying thousands of dollars because of the conditions they were bred and transported in. -A lot of the puppy mill puppies don't make it. They die before they ever get to the pet stores. -If they are deformed and not good for more breeding they are killed in inhumane ways. -They are never socialized. They never get out of their cages. -Many of these puppies are born with genetic conditions of the heart and lungs, or suffer seizures which sometimes don't show up for years. -Many of them have parvo, worms, mange, and various other disorders. -Even if they come with registration papers – it does not mean they came from good breeding conditions. -The AKC receives revenue from the millers for these registrations When the parents are no longer useful to the millers they are disposed of- (shot- beatin or what ever methods they want to use. ) Remember this.... for every puppy sold at a pet shop – A shelter puppy dies. Please, think back to the reason you wanted to be in politics. What does America mean to you? You have the chance to make a difference, and im begging you to take that chance. President Bush, please, think about Barney and Spot. Do it for them..for all the dogs like them. You have the ability to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Yours Truely, Heather Hamptons (xxx) xxx-xxxx www.MillBusters.com www.PuppyMillRescue.com |
Also we could go to the White House website and ask "Barney to Help" Laura would love that and she may have more time to help. Any way we can go about it would be a good !! Barney has his own section, the cat too. New pup doesn't have it's section yet!! I think her name is Miss Beasley. |
It's worth a try, and I certainly don't to make this a political debate, but history has shown that Bush cares only about the almighty dollar and there is too much money in the puppymill agricultural industry for him to try and shut it down. They have a very strong lobby. JMHO. |
1 Attachment(s) I aqree it is worth a try. He has 2 Scotties, Barney and Miss Beasley. :animal36 |

I was going to say it's a great idea, but you're probably using too big of words for him! (Alright guys, I'm done- I got it out of my system! LOL!) I will definitely send something Heather- great work on finding the information. What's the worst that could happen if it doesn't work- you waste a few minutes?! It's worth a shot. [Posting Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend anyone's political opinions/loyalty with my attempt at humor- it's just the first thing that came to mind! Please- no hard feelings!] |
i think it will help. good job heather!!! i'm going to email them!!! i also agree with crystalsmom. laura may have more time than president bush. i mean, i'm sure he'll help, but he's really busy. lol-susan. |
I just sent mine to both Pres. Bush and VP Cheney! Crossed fingers! |
Wonderful email you have written! I hope it makes a difference! |
Thank you for the e-mail addresses. I e-mailed Cheney, Bush, and Barney with this e-mail: ----------------------------------------------------------------- President Bush and Vice President Cheney, I am writing to you today to suggest that you do something to shut down puppymills and punish their owners. Puppy mills are breeding factories with inhumane conditions and horrible cruelty in several forms. Puppy mills are located all over the United States. At puppy mills, dogs are bred & rebred every time they come into heat until they die. Dogs and puppies that live in puppy mills are kept outside in wire-bottom cages. Sometimes, a dog or puppy will get their foot or leg stuck in the wire, and in an attempt to get their leg free, the dogs pull and the wire cut the leg or foot completely off. In most pupy mills, the cages are never cleaned out and the dogs spend their lives living in their own feces and urine. Dogs and puppies living in puppy mills are left outside all year. Usually, they have no protection from the weather. There are usually several puppies and dogs to one cage. They are crowded and trapped. The dogs and puppies living in puppy mills often get sick. There is no one there to care for them. Dogs living in puppy mills never get the opportunity to be loved. They are very rarely to never let out of their cages to be cuddled and played with. They are never socialized. They live their lives in cages constantly being bred so that the owner of the puppy mill can make a profit. Some dogs living in puppy mills are de-barked, usually by ramming pipes down their throats. Puppies are born with defects from the abuse, and their parents are inter bred which can lead to more defects. The dogs and puppies living in puppy mills are fed only enough to keep them alive. Most of the time the food and water bowls are empty. The puppies are taken away from their mothers earlier than they should be. They are shipped all over the United States where brokers take them to pet stores to sell. They have not been checked for defects or any diseases. to pet stores where they will be sold. When someone buys a puppy mill puppy from a pet store, they often end up spending thousands of dollars in vet bills because of the conditions they were bred and transported in. Many of the puppies don't survive the trip to the pet stores. They die before they get there. If a puppy is deformed and cannot be used for breeding, they are often killed in horrifying, inhumane ways. Many of these puppies are born with genetic conditions of the heart and lungs, or suffer seizures which sometimes don't show up for years. Many of them have parvo, worms, mange, and various other disorders. Even if a puppy at a pet store comes with registration papers – it does not mean they came from good breeding conditions. The AKC receives revenue from the millers for these registrations. When the dogs used for breeding are no longer useful to the millers, they are inhumanely disposed of. For more information about puppymills, please visit: http://www.millbusters.com http://www.stoppuppymills.org/ http://www.prisonersofgreed.org/ http://www.lcanimal.org/cmpgn/cmpgn_012.htm Thank you very much for taking the time to read my e-mail. I love animals, and I cannot believe what happens to the poor dogs and puppies at puppy mills. Please, do something about it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
Thanks I will contact them! |
