Depends on temperment and if they're all fixed
One more thing. My friend is not discipline oriented (she's been a cat person for years) but she is learning that she needs to be firm, will she be better off with a male or female?
I think terriers in general need to know who's the boss.

Maybe she should get an older dog, past the housebreaking stage. She'd be able to see more of their personality and know if they're going to be compatible.

Housebreaking always depend on how you involve yourself . I have male and female puppies and never had difficulties with this issue .

She will be better with the sex she choose . Its a waist of time to tell a person she will be better with a male if that person want a female and vice versa . If she let the pup or adult choose her , she will not have much problems .
