Why? Ok, I have two male yorkies. They are total opposites in every way, except that they both LOVE toys. They have over a hundred toys, but they both ALWAYS want the SAME toy. They don't fight, but Jake will get a toy, Jackson will drop the one he has, and go after Jake's. Or, it's the other way around, with Jake taking Jackson's toy. It doesn't even matter if they have the same identical toy!! For instance, they both love rope toys. I just bought them each a new one, but of course, they both only want the one!! We have Hide-A-Squirrel, and when we're playing fetch, I can take all three squirrels and toss them, and they will both ALWAYS come back with ONE.:scratchhe (I think I even remember a video of someone's yorkies on YT who did this.) It's cute and it's funny, but I don't get it. They do this same thing with bully sticks. Each will have their own and will be sitting so quietly, then one will get the idea that maybe the other one's tastes better. Do your yorkies do this? I have been trying to work with them and would love suggestions!:) ETA: My husband says that's just the way they play. |
I have 3 yorkies and I stopped buying 3 of each toy because they always wanted the same one. I brought home a new toy yesterday and all 3 grabbed on to it and were trying to run away with it. It's just the way they play. |

Mine are that way with bully stix. I used to hand each one a stick but they would drop it and take the other's and then drop that and switch again...they were never happy with the one they had. Now I just throw two across the room and they can pick for themselves LOL |
I only have one (Katy) but she will do that with us. If we pick up a toy, she will want that one. Once she gets it and we pick up another one, she wants that one. |

My two shih tzus do the same thing with toys. If it is chew sticks though it can escalate into a fight....I have to watch that. |
Mine play musical toys or bully sticks. It is fun to watch because they all 3 have one then one of them will get up and go take one from the other one then and then that one takes it from the other one and the first one gets the original one thats left. |
Mine do the same thing too. I used to buy them 2 of everything but now i only buy one since they only play with one at a time. They also play or fight a lot. im still not sure which it is. But anytime i leave them in the living room these chase after each other at high speeds and seems as though they are attacking each other, till one yelps and then they start again. |
I can only take their "toys" out when the big dog is in bed our outside, I took them out tonite and took out Hope's new ones from GE, well, yes, they both went after the same old one, pulling it apart, trying to steal it from each other... they are so funny |
