Kibble was assaulted today! I took him over to my girl-friends house with me today. She wanted me to help her groom her adopted 4 yr old Yorkie. My friend just adores Kibble so I thought I would bring him along to have a play date. Well it did not go to good and Aidan really laid into Kibble! :( Kibble was screaming and Aidan was going at him, her and I both were freaking and we finally got him off Kibble. When I 1st got there, I let Aidan sniff Kibble and did not put him down till I thought it was safe. They did good for awhile and then all of a sudden Aidan just attacked him! No blood or anything, I think I was more shook up then Kibble was. Why on earth would he do this? He was used as a stud, so do you think he was just proving his dominance? I was so hoping they could become buddies, but I really am hesitant to take any of my babies over there. :( |
Oh that must have scared to bejebbies out of you. I am glad that no one was hurt. |
thank god it wasn't little Lillie!! Glad Kibble is okay. I would agree it would be dominance that cause him to act that way. I don't trust intact dogs for some reason. |
Poor Kibble!! I know that must have been scary. I think Aidan was proving that he is the top dog. Leader of his pack. Is Aidan this way around other dogs? He could have dog aggression issues. Glad Kibble is okay!! |
 Geez, don't know what to say, but I'm glad he's alright. Dodger:animal36 |
I don't know why, but we just had a similar experience with 2 males not getting along  -- it's the worst when you hope they can spend time together |
I agree its dominance. The fact that they didn't break skin or cause serious injury shows it was not an all-out attack. Dogs do this to establish the pack order. However, you never know when one dog will think it needs to take it to the next level. I'd not let Kibble around that dog unsupervised, meaning a leash on the aggressive dog and no ability to actually reach Kibble. Once started, this behavior is very hard to stop. Err on the safe side. |
Back when my Kuma was a younger our neighbor had a little poodle, i took him over to introduce him and the poodle did same attacked Kuma, my good boy is submisive so he just rolled over and showed belly, my neighbor concerned so decided to pay for a trainer to come over and help with the poodle when the trainer asked us to explained what happen she told us the biggest mistake i did was that i was carrying kuma for the other dog to sniff and that made stressful enviroment, so the second time we walk in the house both of them on leash and completely relaxed it really made a big difference i dothat everytime i introduce him to someone or any new dogs and never really had issues afterwords. I started doing this with our new baby kaylee when we started socializing her and its either me having a sense of security that projects to my dogs or just really works anyways just wanted to give u an idea. |
I dont understand cause Rocky has been used as a stud and has never shown aggression like this to Kibble or anyother male dog. I hope it stays that way. |
Missy, I think I can almost say 100% that its because he was used as a stud. Even though my precious sweet Brodie is my baby.........he can be a little bratt to Brooklyn, my other boy. He has never layed into anyone BUT he lets him know this is HIS house. I even had his own pup in my house. He was the daddy of the pup, but not from one of my girls, it was a stud service I did, and he did not like this pup at all! I cringe when people come over with their yorkies and just let them run around my house because you just never know. When someone comes into thier territory...its a whole different ball game. Quote:

I would say it is dominence. Jaxon will get all Cujo on any other dog that startles him or is too rough, but never actually bites them. He is just letting him know that enough is enough. It startled me the first couple of times he did it, but it was always to more rambunctious dogs or bigger dogs that he may be a little frightened of. Maybe bring that yorkie to your house & try to let them bond again. Hope this helps! Kay:luvu: |
Aww poor Kibble. :( |
so scary when these things happen. You never know what is in the past for the rescue dog, and he was probably just protecting his property, and his new domain. Quote:
