~~Smuggling in 2~~ I'm thinking about getting a second furbaby but I like to take my Bomber wherever I go. We always take him into the restaurant with us and nobody knows we have him. How do you do this with 2 of them????? |
wow how do you manage that and keep him quiet??/ Is he in a stroller or a bag? |
I can't imagine keeping my Madeleine quiet in a restaurant! |
Wow! Franklin does fine in his bag when we go shopping but if I set his carrier down, he starts to get antsy. I don't think I'd ever take two out. They'd probably be happier at home, anyway. |
My two are totally obsessed with each other when they are together. The running, playing, mischief making is crazy. They are rarely quiet if they are in the same room together. I leave mine at home if I can't bring them in legally. I don't even try to sneak them in. |

Wow. I am shocked. I have two yorkies and I take them in all sorts of places. I have a 2 year old male who has been riding in a bag with me since I brought him home. He goes to church, business meetings, restaurants, the grocery store, the mall...he has been to more places than some people. I just got a rescue female. While they will both ride in the same bag, it is very cramped. When we sit down somewhere with a table I generally take her out of the bag and put her on my lap since she is only 3lbs. No one has ever noticed. We go to panera bread all the time. They just sleep and watch people under the table. While my babies are crazy kids and wild and running all over at home and playing, they know when to behave. I am tired of hearing, "oh, my dog would NEVER do that." You bet your dog would. It's all about taking the time to train them. I wanted dogs who behave this way, and they do. It takes a lot of time. This is why my babies fly on airplanes so well too. I get endless compliments on how well behaved they are and hear, "my dog would never do that." Have you ever taken the time to train your dog to? I didn't think so. My furbabies are truly my babies. They are not happier at home alone and they enjoy meeting new people. I am really shocked more people on here don't take their pets. It's been being done for years, long before the small dog craze. So to go against the flow. It can be done. It is all about how much work you want to put into it and how much time you want to spend with your babies. They love to spend as much time with you as they can, so saying they are happier at home alone is a cop out if you only have one, or even two if they are small. |

I realize Peanutt isn't happy being at home all the time, but it is the best I can do for now. When I run errands, it's usually all day Saturday and I don't think the hardiest of small dogs would want to be in a car all day going from store to store. |
My Baby goes to the supermarket, bank, stores and a few restaurants with me. It really depends upon the place. That particular restaurant is very dog friendly and he stays quietly on my lap or in his bag. I try to go to only restaurants that have outdoor seating. Hey if I have to sit with the cigarette smoke outside they can sit with my Baby who is much more pleasant :) I bet if I had two of them, Ozzy would want to play though. If I feel he may be unwelcome I leave him at home or take my business to a dog friendly place. I guess it depends upon where you live and the individual establishments. |
i don't even try bringing sophie into the supermarkets and restaurants. mainly because it isn't allowed, but also because it just isn't natural. maybe restaurants with outdoor dining, but indoors isn't very sanitary. and i know my dog is very clean (she gets a bath once a week, and stays indoors except when i take her to potty) but i put myself in other people's shoes and think, what if i was trying to eat and the lady next to me had a dog on her lap, waiting for my food :p small drugstores and what not are perfect places to bring my baby though. :) |
I have 2 and Ive resigned myself to not taking them with me into stores and such. Its just too hard. They are too heavy to carry around in a bag together plus they would make noise and bark! I took them on an airplane and for the most part they were good but they did bark a bit before take off. I always have my 2 at the same time so its not like i could pick just one to take and leave the other one alone, but a couple weeks ago, the groomer finished one boy about an hour before the other so she called me and told me, so I picked up my one boy and took him to the bank and then to Rite Aid. He was freshly groomed and caused quite a stir in Rite Aid. I just walked in with him got the things I needed and got in line... everyone was crowding around to pet him and tell me they had a dog or a yorkie or how beautiful he was! It was fun, but he was uncomfortable. That is the only time Ive ever had one with out the other for any length of time in almost 3 years! |
I never sneak mine into places |

Well I think my main problem is, why would you want to? Why subject your dogs to hours of being stuffed into a small, cramped, hot space? Franklin goes with me on errands when I can't leave him in the car but I see no reason to bring him to dinner or church. He'd MUCH rather be at home, sleeping on his comfortable bed. |
