He could not walk and had to be carried everywhere. The vet was certain that he had hurt his back as well, but on the second day, he started having blisters on his feet and on the back of his body. I am convinced and just amazed! Funny how after $1500 of tests and meds from the vet, a $15 jar of coconut oil healed him!!! It has now been two weeks and he is back to normal.

I have recently been using the extra virgin oil from-- Tropicaltraditions.com-- and after my shower I have rubbed it on my feet and calves and my yorkies can't wait to lick it off.

If anyone has used it for their furbabies ills I'd appreciate hearing about the results.

I use this on Jack's coat it makes him shinny. And every once in a while I give him a hot oil treatment.

I try to put it into his food but he won't eat it.

Thanks Cheryl--My babies sparkle also. I just rub a small bit between my hands and then on their coats. My oldest baby(8years) was having a terrible time itching and scratching--thanks to the coconut oil now that problem is gone.

I haven't tried it on the food but their breakfast of boiled chicken breast with a tablespoon of goat yogurt is gone in a flash.

Where do you get the coconut oil? I've never heard of this, but I'm all for a shiny coat!:D

You can get coconut oil in natural food (health food stores), but I did see some in Asian markets as well.

I use it as a hot oil treatment on my own coat.. um hair.:p I get mine at Wild Oats and OMG it smells sooo yummy! I also recently read that some studies are showing that our bodies will not use it as fat but that our livers convert it to energy. Pretty cool if it turns out to be true.:thumbup:

This is where we get ours. We use it for everything - from cooking to mixing with the castor oil in the Oil Cleansing Method for my skin.

My Reggie has always had problems with ear infections. We use Dr. Ear from Native Remedies and also coconut oil. My holistic groomer recommended it because of its anti-bacterial/anti-fungal properties.

This is really good information. As well as using it for the coats. Does this cause it to get on the furniture or anything from the coats?????

I haven't noticed any problem with small amounts as it seems to get absorbed so fast into the hair and skin.
