Picking out baby... So, if there are 3 puppies of 3 different sizes showing these traits- is there a way to tell which one would get along best with my 1 year old pup who is not an alpha (she's a lover, not shy or scared). 1. Puppy 1 biggest- walks away from the litter from day one, climbs out of the cage, etc. 2. Puppy 2 middle- likes to wrestle, makes noise 3. Puppy 3 smallest- super quiet, just looks at people when they are by him. |
How do they react with each other?? You can get a better perspective of their personality by how they react with their littermates. Personally I would always pick out an inquistitive confident puppy over a shy timid one. |
As a breeder, I can tell you that their personalities change. The calmest one can end up the being the roudiest by the time it is time to go and visa versa. Though I'm sure you are wanting to pick one out now....go with your instincts. Take time to watch them and play with them. Chances are they are all going to be able to adjust to your one year old. Most people choose the one that chooses them first.:) |
Lucy was the calmest of her litter, very shy. But when I took her away from the others she became very interactive and cuddly with me and the rest is history. She is confident with the sweetest disposition of any puppy I've ever known :) |
Cool. It's good to know that these things aren't set in stone and there is no need to be apprehensive about making the right choice. Dog #1 is really agreeable so I think it'll be great. |
You have to post pictures once you get your new baby:D |
My little Taz was so named because of his mischievious behaivour, but now at almost 3 years old, he is the sweetest, shyest baby ever. Just a little love bug! :D |
