So almost a tradegy! Groomer story - please be warned. I took my Emily to a groomer today, I groom her myself because there isn't a decent groomer that I'm happy with but she puts up such a fight when I try to trim her nails I chickened out and decided to take her to the new groomers that's just opened nearby. They are a vet surgery and cat and dog boarders as well as a grooming salon. Anyway, I went into the front reception and the lady asked if I wanted Emily's nails done there with me holding her or if I'd prefer she did them in the grooming room as I'd already explained that I had problems doing them and Emily can be snappy. I preferred someone else to hold her as I figured she might be less naughty without me there so the lady carried Emily off out the main door (I presumed) into a seperate room whilst I sat down to wait. It seemed to be taking a long while so I stood up and happened to glance out of the front window onto the (busy) road outside and noticed Emily running across the dual carriage way!! OMG, everything went in slow motion but I managed to run after her screaming her name and luckily she froze after crossing the road twice and realised it was me and ran to me and crouched in front of me so I could pick her up. My heart was in my mouth! It turns out that the grooming lady gave Emily to a man to take back to me rather than carry her back to me and, as I hadn't planned on her being walked anywhere) I had just put her collar and leash on instead of her harness so she had slipped out of it. I had no idea she would be leaving the grooming shop and I so wish I had put on her harness now. The lady turned out to be the owner (also the vet) and the man is her partner so you'd think they'd be a little more responisble. I won't be taking any of my dogs to any more groomers ever again, I will have to just muzzle Emily next time I need to cut her nails. I just wanted to warn people to always put their dog's harness on even if you're only planning on going to the groomer and warn the groomer to keep your dog on their harness and leash if they plan to let them outside! I'm just so glad I happened to look outside at the right moment and I thank God as I think he must have been watching over us today!! We've all been for a nice walk now to recover. |
What a scare! I'm sure you were shaken up big time over that. Thankfully you caught her and all is well. |
Wow! I'm so sorry that happened to you! :( |
OMG...that must have been really scary!! Poor Emily and poor you...you guys shouldn;t have to go through that :( Thank God nothing serious happened to Emily... |
OMG that was a close one. I'm glad she is ok just like skin kids it's hard to trust our furbabies with ANYONE. |
Wow! That's scary. How irresponsible of them to let her get away from them. Thank goodness things didn't end differently. Glad to hear Emily is okay! |
HOLY C**P ! I Would have been SO scared SO PISSED ! What a terrible thing for them to do - they could have got your baby KILLED - Man - what on earth is wrong with people ? I'm SO GLAD you were looking out the window and you did have an angel looking over you....Poor thing - you must have been shaking from fear - wow - I've heard it all now. |
How horrible and scary! I'm glad she's okay! |
I am so shocked!! I just would not have been able to contain myself had that been me!   |
OMG!! I would have been rippen mad! Did they ever say why your puppy was outside to begin with? There is just no excuse for something like that to EVER happen. It's just amazing you were looking out that window at that time. Sounds like Devine intervention to me too!! Extra hugs to you and your pup. |
OMG! I would have been FUMING!! I can't believe they were SO CARELESS!! I'm just glad your baby is ok! |
omg !! i am so sorry to hear that!! i hope emily is doing okay!! i would be scared to death!! |
OMGoodness, I would have been furious. I'm so glad Emily is alright. A little tip on the nail clipping. I have a couple that give me a hard time during the clipping so.....I take the nail clippers in the tub and while they are soaking wet, I clip the nails. They so concentrate on being wet and when will it end, that they don't even realize what is happening. This has certainly made the nail trimming much easier for us. Again, glad everything is alright. |
What a close call!!!!! I am so glad everything turned out ok! |
This is Horriable :lightning Okay, This really tee's Me off. :lightning How Awful,I can't even imagine what could have happened if You had not seen it.I would have been yelling so loud Florida would have heard Me.Did You get a chance to tell Them how un-professional that is ? You would think They would know to be careful after all that is a Vet !(A TRAINED PROFESSION) I am sorry this happened and I am so happy it ended well. :omg: Tami |
Oh my goodness!!!! thank goodness she is o.k. Quote:
********* How scary for you having to chase Emily  ....that does shock me that happened. ..there should be another barrier for the doggies once they get loose... My groomers for my past dog had a half/ gate...the dogs never leave from that unless with the owner.... I'm so sorry....it must make your heart drop each time you think of it.. Angels were with your yorkie..that is for sure... |
OMG! That is terrible that they let that happen, how did they let her get loose yet out of the building? I'm just happy that she's allright, your lucky that she stopped because you know that she was scared and sometimes they just run. Yea, I'm like you I don't take my boys to the groomers I do it, maybe not as well but a lot more safely! I do like that tip on cutting while they're in the tub, I'll have to try that next time... |
Thanks for all the replys everyone. I've calmed down now and I've got ANGRY  at this place so I reported them to the local authority who will go inspect them. I can't understand how they can run a practice with standards like that, the grooming room should be easily accessed without crossing the entrance near the road with no gates in place like it is now. I mean how hard it is to close a gate?? Thanks for the tip on nail grooming, I'll try that next time I bath Emily. She is very nervous and tends to panic when she doesn't like something and bites before she thinks!LOL I hoped letting the groomer do her nails would be an easier option but no one will be taking any of my 3 babies from me ever again - period. I groom myself and OK it doesn't look great but I remember why I started doing it now! I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place to save any other dog owner the stress of finding their pet ending up lost of injured - it just doesn't bare thinking about. |
Holy crap! I would have killed those people! I hope you gave them a piece of your mind before leaving! Did they even appologize? |
That is terrible!! I would have been furious! Luckily my groomer is a doll. She handles my dogs with kid gloves. |
Go out and buy yourself a lottery ticket..because today is your lucky day. You were so lucky to have stood up and looked when you did. Thank Goodness! |
Oh My GOSH!!!!! That made me gasp and my hand went up over my gaping mouth!!!!!!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT!!!!!!!!! Surely you let them have a piece of your mind before you left! Oh, Oh, OH! Thank God you looked out the window when you did, that must have been your guardian angel that made you look. I bet your eyes got as big as dinner plates! Thank goodness you got to her before any real harm was done! Was anyone out there trying to get her back? I just don't see any reason on earth why she was outside of the building!!!!!!!!! |
Heehee, I hadn't thought it might just be my lucky day, if I win the lottery I can buy my dog rescue I've always dreamt of. She was out the building because the only way from reception to the grooimg room was to go out one door, walk through the car park next to the road and into another door. Which is why I think they should be made to improve their set up for safety reasons, I hope the council will make them do that. I would have been happy to go get her myself rather than them try taking her for a walk like that. |
I can only imagine. You must have felt your heart in the pit of your stomach! Totally irresponsible! Thank goodness you saw her or she might not be here. Must be a mother's intuition... ;) |

Well, I'll tell you what! That is THE DUMBEST set up for that type of business. They need to atleast put some type of barrier up so NO pets get to that road! After a few people loose their beloved pets, that place will be OUT OF BUSINESS!!!! They better get that fixed and FAST! This has just made me sooooooooo MAD! I am so thankful nothing happened!!!! |
