Full size yorkies. ok, so my sophie is about 5 months old, she just hit the 5 pound mark. i guess my question is, at what age (approximately) do puppies reach their full size, or does it vary a lot? we breed shelties, and its a lot easier to tell with them. i'm new to the yorkie scene. :p |
I know all puppies are different but Buddy grow up to his 1yr birthday. Almost a pound a month too. Today he is 15lbs but solid. No fat on him at all. Congratulations on you baby and welcome to YT. |
well that helps. thank you very much. you are one of the many who have given me the "around a year" answer, so sophie has a little growing time on her :D |
They all grow at different rates. Most breeders know their lines and can tell you an estimate of when they usually stop growing. My Cali gained a lb from the age 9 months to 15 months. She now weighs 5 1/2 lbs. Pixie I got as an adult but the breeder said she stopped growing by 6 months. She is overweight at 4 lbs and should be 3 1/2 lbs. Roxie is 7 months and the breeder (also Pixie's breeder) said her lines stop growing by 6-7 months for the most part and may put on a little more weight. So far I have had Roxie 3 months and she has put on a little less than a pound and in the last month has only gained 3 ounces. She weighs 3 lbs 12 ounces right now. What size did Sophie's breeder estimate her to be? |
Bailey is 6months old and weighs 7.9lbs he defo is not fat and looks so tiny hehe |

she has hit the 5 pound mark which led me to believe that she is about finished growing. however i know a breeder can be wrong on estimating size and that it isn't set in stone. |
Pepper is 6 months old and weighs 8lbs and 5 oz. she hasn't gained any weight in the last month so maybe this is the weitght she will stay. |
It really does depend on the dog! It's anywhere form 6 months old to about 1 1/2 years old. The bigger the dog, the longer it takes them to reach their full size. |
