Did your puppies personalities change? Hi everyone, Well, the good news is that Joey is 150% recovered - it's like nothing ever happened to the little guy :) He is soooooo full of energy - a typical puppy...teething, jumping, barking... My question is - for those of you who have older Yorkies, did your dogs' energies levels decrease noticeably after they weren't considered puppies anymore? I really want Joey to sit in my lap and be more of a lap dog, and I think this will come more with time. He just wants to play right now - will he get a little more relaxed after a few months? I love my little Joey, I just want him to snuggle with me more instead of nipping at my nose and running all over the place :) |
Hi...Our girls seemed to calm down at about 6 months or so. Now that they are both a little over a year old it seems like they would rather lay in a lap than play...lol. I must have missed your other post. What happened to him? |
good question. i was wondering the same thing. cause when louie was way younger, he would just sleep most the time. now he's extremely hyper [as louie runs full speed through the living room] and try's to be vicious. haha. i dont mind it though. But i assume by the time he calms down, Ill be ready for it!! |
well my coco is 8 months now and he's still hyper...he wants to pplay fetch as soon as he wakes up!but once he tires he just lays with his mamma :) |
My Sophie is now 8 months old and my parents hadn't seen her in a few weeks so when they came by this weekend they where bragging on her for being so calm. The same thing with my friends they came over this weekend and where amazed at how much she had calmed down. She still played with them and loved on them when they first got there but then she would go lay down and only come when she was called. She was super hyper when she was a puppy so I think your Joey will calm down too. It just takes some time. :aimeeyork |
Hi, Billy can be hyper, he sleeps alot of the day, but would rather sleep in his bed than on my lap ! I too want a bit of a lap dog, it seems only at night before bedtime he will go on my lap for a while, I blame it on my Cairn terrier, she has never been a cuddly dog and is teaching him all the wrong things, they play all the time in the garden, she loves apples and steals them off the lower branches of the trees and now Billy loves apples and beetroot and anyhing else Ruby ( the cairn )can pinch out of the garden and chase each other round for ages,LOL, He's just found his bark, he's 4 months old,I just hope he doesn't learn to bark too much. |
I'm so glad to hear that little Joey is better. Your story made me force my dad and brother to learn the "Yorkie shuffle"... It makes me smile to hear such a happy ending. All of our puppies chilled out at different points, so I'm sure he'll get there. |
I have to say that I got Simon as a puppy and he is almost 2 now (in September) and has yet to "calm" down! He is a lunatic sometimes but I have learned to love that and when he is calm I know something is wrong. I rescued Hallie last July and she is 3 now. She is very calm and much more of a cuddlebug. Simon has a ton of energy and is always on the move.......Hallie is very relaxed, I say she is a diva who needs to be waited on hand and foot so she doesn't have to move ;) |
Krishna is just over 6 months now. I had him neutered two weeks ago and within three days his energy level went up to a whole new level. I don't know what happened, but I swear he has enough energy for two now :p Julie |
