Sad I take my sons and gfs puppy tomorrow for his 8 wk. checkup and next round of shots. The puppy will be 8 weeks old on Mon. Well, DS is now saying starting next week, he will have the puppy mon-fri, she will have him sat-sun. I'm already upset. I just don't agree with this, nor do I feel like this will in any way at all be beneficial to the puppy. :( |
Wow, 8 weeks is so young. How long have they had the puppy? I hope you can work something out that will be the best for the puppy. |
I picked him up from the breeder exactly 2 weeks ago today. He was also the runt. The kids are 16. |

I wish I would of known more about when yorkies should leave, but I didn't. My mistake. I have paid for everything. I now know so much more about yorkies, (thanks to this site, and the great people here). I have been the one that has been up with him at night, so DS could sleep. Well, tonight that changes. He moved the crate into his room, so he can take care of the puppy tonight. I just......am so attached. Help. |
I would insist that the puppy be left at your house then, since you paid for everything. That puppy is too young to be bouncing back and forth, and he will get confused. Your son is young, who knows if he will even still have the same girlfriend in a few months. I wouldn't allow the puppy to go, and I'd have the girlfriend come to your house to see him. |

The puppy needs to be in a stable home without a lot of changing back and forth. Pups that get stressed from changes can become sick with coccidia and also can go hypoglycemic. This pup is not even fully vaccinated so it definitely must stay at your house until the pup is protected with proper vaccinations. I hate to hear the breeder let the pup go at such a young age. :( Best of luck with the pup. Just remember these Yorkie babies are like real babies. They need lots of TLC and you have to watch them closely. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies and 2 Maltese :) |
thank you for your replies. Now, I need to just stand my ground! |
Hi there -- TOTALLY OT - but I think I recognize you from my friend's blog. Is this your standard username, or is this your first time using it? My friend's name is "J" and her son's name is "R." She's a great champion for the cause she's involved in. Anyway, long shot, but your username is the same as the friend she has on her blog. Just thought I'd ask. :) I definitely agree with the others. Stand your ground. Right now, especially, he needs consistency. He has so much to get used to & he needs some sort of stability in order to adapt to it. Definitely stand your ground! Best of luck! |

What part of WV are you from? |
I wish i had found this site b4 i got my Bailey he was 5 weeks old when we got him i had no idea they had to be 12 weeks old. I got him a week before christmas, he was not a christmas puppy for me as i had always wanted a small dog and then was just the right time in my life to get him. Makes me wonder tho why they sold him so young, makes me think they was just selling them for christmas. I had always wanted a small dog and boy was he small!! If i knew then what i know now i wud have not taken him from his mother so young :( |
Since you love him and you now have YT:D, I am sure you will do just fine with you little furbaby. You won\'t believe how deeply in love you\'ll become.:D |
I would insist that the puppy stay at your house. It is way too young to be moving around like that, and yorkies especially hate change. You\'ll have problems training him because things will be inconsistant. Puppies need to be around the same people and the same environment so they can learn to be good dogs. I would tell your son\'s gf to go get her own puppy! |
