Question about topknots I put Baxter in a topknot last night and my husband made me take it out. I used an elastic band that I got in the baby section at Walmart. Husband says he will get choked on it when he gets it out. The wonderful thing was that Bax only scratched at it twice and didn't seem to mind it. I took it out because I didn't want him to eat it or get choked on it. Any suggestions on what to use? Husband want me to just CUT the hair. NO WAY. |
If the elastic is well placed and the little one don't try to take it off , there is no danger . |
The topknot keeps the hair out of his eyes The topknot won't hurt anything, as long as it doesn't break his hair. It actually should be easier on his eyes not to have hair in them. If your pup doesn't dig at the topknot, he should be fine. Our boy had a nice tuft of silver hair on top at the age of 3, but now at 5 his topknot has been replaced by hair that is short, slick, and golden auburn.:animal-pa |
LOL, hubbies... I would say it will not harm him at all as long as is not too tight that it pulls his skin... but if that was the case, he wouldn't leave it alone as he did, so, I guess enjoy you luck!! You have a yorkie who does not mind a topknot!!! I use orthodontical bands on my dogs, they are just tiny, veeeery elastic, and easy to cut at the end of the day... Just be sure to take the top knot off once a day, brush and replace it... good luck! |
I use the bands from Des at mygofetch.com. They don't break her hair like others I've tried in the past. |

My worry is more about him swallowing it if he gets it off than it hurting the hair. And then having to hear "I told you so". He also thinks it makes Bax look like a girl! |

Geez...my husband, son and friends think the same thing when I tie my boys hair but love it for the little girl. |
I tell my hubby that I'm so glad his sexuality isn't threatened by seeing a male dog with a bow and topknot, of course I told him this before I put the topknot in, and I repeat it often. :D |
I bought Goody Ouchless bands in the hair depart. at Wallmart. I have to wrap it three times or she will take it out, found them in her mouth. Have to make it tight and then loosen it a little, and I usually cut them out, they are so inexpensive. |
I can't even post some of the things he said it made him look like. Then Baxter hid under the bed for awhile and he said he was embarassed! |
