White Patch on Yorkie Puppies???? Wow! My first post was on March 31, and I was frantic that day. My puppies were born by c-section and had to be revived. My Mommy dog was too out of it to take care of her puppies so my husband and I had to tube feed them. Luckily by the second day, Tilly started to take care of the puppies herself and I am happy to announce that I have two beautiful and thriving puppies. I have a question though! I own both parents and have pedigrees on both of them. Both of my puppies have little white patches on their chests and I mean PURE white. I've never heard of this before in purebred Yorkie puppies. I'm kind of confused. Can anyone offer some insight? |
Little white patches on chests are very common. Every litter I have ever had has had a little white mark on their chest. And I know mine are pure yorkies, no partis and no splitters. In fact, this is how i tell them apart. When they are newborns, the patch is always in a different shape. Most likely as the puppy gets older, that white patch will turn into a beautiful gold or tan. Mine always have. Congratulations on the babies!!!!!! |
:congrats:Congratulation on your new babies. I am glad to hear mom and babies are doing well. That was quite an ordeal you went through. My puppies have the white spot on the chest quite often. It is very common. |
Thank you SO MUCH for your prompt reply! I feel so much better now! I like your explanation about using the white patches to identify the puppies. Luckily since I only have two puppies and one is a HUGE male and the other is a teeny little female, I don't have to use that method! However, you are quite right because the male only has a tiny white spot and the female has a lightening bolt! They both have a few white/silver spots on the bottom side of their toes! Thanks again! P.S. I took a look at your website and I love the little banner on your nursery page. It's darling and all of your breeders are gorgeous! |

you are welcome but i want to warn you that as they grow, the little white patches change shape and then you have to paint their toe nails or something to identify them. Some of mine had had white toes also. that changes too or can eventually be trimmed off. thanks for your warm comments. |
I have a 11 week old girl and she too has a small white patch on her chest. It's not alot...but it's there. Question is....when do we expect that to change color? Does it take a while? I notice her ears and top of the head changing color already....is that normal for her age? |
:welcome4: Congrats on the puppies! |
2 Attachment(s) My little Epsilon has a little white patch on his chest and on his chin. He's almost 7mo old and it's still there. I honestly don't want it to go away because it's so cute! Here's some pics |
