Question about Gromming?
 
Hi I'm new to the site! I'm so upset and thought that going to this site would
help my frustration because only another yorkie lover would understand!
Anyway, I took my Precious Miko for a haircut this weekend and they completely chopped his hair all off!! I'm wondering how long does it usually
take for it to grow back!! I love him to death but I just hate his haircut!!!!!

Oh my gosh im so sorry to hear that.
did that place you went to come recommended ??
did u talk to the groomer and gave instructions on how and what you want your doggie to look like???
im not sure how long it takes .. ihavent taken mine in yet for his first grooming ... what happened to you is MY WORST nightmare.... eeeeeeeeeek :eek:
it will grow back though but still sorry to hear :(

Thanks for your concern! I went to Petco and he had been there before, but
I think someone else did instead! I explained what I wanted, but I think she thought it was easier just to cut it off! anyway, I guess it will grow! I'm just so upset about it! THANKS FOR ANSWERING!!!

hmmm petco.. i dunno ... i hear a lot of ppl use em but i just dont know if i would ... i dunno it takes a lot for me to trust someone and this whole grooming thing is really very hard for me... to find a good groomer its like finding a good gyno for me lol ....

Miko??? One of my good friends yorkie is named Miko. I've taken my dog there one time and I never returned!

Depending on how short it is, it could take a year for all of it to grow back.

Wow I hope it doesn' t take that long. It seems like his hair grows pretty fast I don't think I will ever take him there again!!! Thanks for the responses.

Thanks I feel a little better, and now after reading about the grooming dryers I don't every want to take my Miko to be groomed! I think I need to invest
in some equipment so that I could do it at home!

Ebay Grooming Tables
 
There are some nice and cheap grooming tables on ebay. If you have the money you might want ot log on and place abid. Some are like 29.99 with arm and boose. Hope this help let me know.

Sabrina got a bad haircut too when I first got her. Then I pulled a photo out of a magazine and took it to the groomer as a guide. AFter that - I took a picture of Sabrina and I take it every time and it has notes written on - to remember toenails and anal glands and shave her tummy and between her toes. I haven't gotten a bad haircut since then luckily.

It does grow out eventually! And right now you have an excuse for some cute shirts.

Gosh, I bet you'll never go back there again. Not only the fact the hair takes awhile
to grow back but a Yorkie should never have it's hair cut back like that - its too
drastic a change in the summer (the hair works to insulate) and since the heat is
very hard on these dogs that is another reason not to go back. If they just cut
the length and not clipped it would not bother her. Joan & Crystal

sabrina thats excellent advice .. im going to copy and paste your post and print it out so that i can remember to do the same when my time comes for Chicle's grooming ..

I have taken Leah to get a hair cut twice. First time I got the Lady's name out of the phone book and it said she specialized in small breads. I then talked to her about what I wanted and her experience with Yorkies. Fantastic Leah had never looked so cute . Second time a friend recommended someone else. Well not only did Leah look like a she had been skinned she had caught a chill a was the shaken' dog for almost three weeks . I still blame my self though as I didn't take the time with the second lady and make sure she knew what she was doing! In an other response they took a photo - best idea! With notes on what you want that is what i will be doing next time and going back to the first lady!

I use Petco. I always make sure I get to the same groomer, because I have seen what other dogs look like when the other groomers do them. When I get my three done I always bath them before and all she does is a quick cut on Maddie and Polly and I get Rudy cut shorter, he has a cotton coat and he get to hot in the summer. I never leave mine, I walk two around in a shopping cart while she does one. Maddie will be three in Feb and I have been going to her since she was a puppy. I bet she looks cute it is just a big change when you get there hair cut short. At first I thought I had made a mistake with cutting Rudy, but it has grown on me. But I would be mad like you if they did it with out me telling them. Bet she is still a cutie.

Petco!!! they chopped Mandy's coat, the girl that did it was new and acted like she knew what she was doing. It looked pretty uneven around her face and had to take her back to get it fixed. I won't go back there again. :thumbdown :thumbdown
