Getting new Yorkie pup on Friday! Hi everyone!!! I am getting a precious looking yorkie pup from a YT member :) He comes to me on Friday and I just don't know how i am going to get through the week till then!!!!! This is my first yorkie, and i am in the progress of putting together a list of things to get before his arrival: • Water bowl • Food bowl • Mat for under bowl • Collar • Lease/poop bag • Brush • Shampoo/conditioner • Dog food • Treats • Nutri Cal • Chew toys • Bed • Baby gate • Bathroom mat • Wee pads • If anyone can think of anything else i need, PLEASE let me know, all help would be GREATLY appreciated! :) |
food ha ha:D |
I agree...food is always a good thing to have on hand! You might also want to get an x-pen or puppy playpen along with a crate for house training. Nylabones are good and so are the rope toys that are tied in a knot on both ends...mine love to teeth on those. I use stainless steel dishes so nothing can penatrate the surface and hang around to cause trouble. Enjoy your new baby! |
Haha thanks! I had dog food down on my list!!! ;) im getting a baby gate to give him his own little space.. Would you still think a puppy pen is necessary? Also, I'm in two minds about crating -- I just don't like the idea..although friends of mine insist it isnt as inhumane as i think! |
a really good harness I think someone on here makes some really good ones. Just not sure who. things you'll eventually need Clothes carseat stroller more clothes hair bows grooming table more clothes |

Congrats! Another fellow NYer:p Cant wait to see pictures! |
So when you mean crate training - do you mean training it to pee and poop in the crate? I don't want to keep him in there while i am at work.. ill get a play pen for him while im away during the day.. i just assumed i would get him to do his business on wee wee pads in specific places in the apartment? |
Add these things to your list 1. lots of hugs and kisses 2. lots of oooooooooo and ahhhhhhhh 3. Lots of laughter 4. Lots of starring at the little thing, 5. Foolish facial grins all day and night 6. Tons of picture taking 7. showing off 8. feeling on top of the world |

Awww, thanks! I cannot waittttt for him (Mojo) to come Friday! Just cannot cannot cannot waitt! |
You mentioned pee pads. Are you planning to pad train your baby? If so just use the playpen with a pad inside and that should do it but don't leave them out unattended to use the pads while you're gone. I use washable pee pads and they are great but mine also go outside...pad training is wonderful for bad weather and real cold days though! |
congrats on your new puppy and welcome to YT! can you say who you are getting your puppy from? |
Congrats!!! I use to not believe in crate training( I used a dog playpen) and then I did it with Cali and she loved her playpen and would go in whenever she knew I was leaving. Pixie I got at 13 months and she was not use to a crate and hated it, but she is fine in a carrier in the car. Roxie is crate trained and sleeps in hers at night sometimes rather than my bed, by choice. They really are safer in one and you have piece of mind that they have not gotten into anything. |
Congrats on your new puppy and welcome to YT! :aimeeyork |
