training I cut a show lead off and leave about 6 inches. They wear it all day. T..I think right now I perfer to show a good silk coated Yorkie and not win here, then show what I am not wild about...that is my thinking today! LOL Years ago Trivar was everything on the east coast...Johnny and I had many discussions about texture. He thought all his were perfect. I thought they were soft and even wooly...but he was the "Yorkie god" .. The best thing that even happened to me in Yorkies was a female he did not like...Trinket was silk and I bought her..she was the foundation for my first champion. Trivar had top of the line structure, small ears, personality, everything, but not the type coats I loved...and T is so right. Coat is one of the easiest things to change. |
Thanks Pat. I remember them - with Tycoon, Cookie Monster, and Suds Sipper (I think that is right in spelling) - all champions. And you are right - their dogs had the coat - lots of it! I think the reason - mainly - they had so many wins was do to the way their dogs could show. Suds Sipper was a real showman. And then Tycoon sired a lot of champions himself. They won at the Specialty shows too. He had 23 Bests in Show including our national specialty in NY. When you saw him move in the ring - you said Wow! Now I didn't care much for his - Suds ears, but you can't have that perfect dog. T. |
Kathy is right about the tricks people will do and the length they will go for that win - its like the cheerleader moms. But not everybody is like that. Most of us are okay - it is just a few that ruin it for the rest of us. Just go to the grooming areas at a show - and watch - you will be amazed at what you see. Right ladies? And it is not just our breed - it reaches across all breeds. Again not everybody uses those tricks. But is amazing to see that white powder fly! Right? Question I have heard from before: a handler asked me -if others do those tricks, is it fair that I don't and loose. I say play fair so you can go to bed at night without nightmares or a fear of getting caught. :D T. |
