Here's a link to the thread where Admin mentioned the bots...it starts on post #13 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sit...d-breaker.html |
The first thing I noticed when I just logged on was that there were like 143 people viewing General Discussion, so I scrolled down and saw the crazy guest stats. I can't decide if the glitch is funnier, or if the fact that we all noticed it is funnier. I used to have a chat forum, but I never saw more than 5 bots on at any given time. They are "search bots" that scan the internet constantly and capture info for search engines (at least that was my understanding of them). |
Boy am I slow...I just posted this in Off Topic and someone already noticed way before me right here........Anyway....WOOOHOOO!!!! |

Yes, search engine bots have been on YorkieTalk a lot lately. They are counted as guests by the forum software. Search engine bots capture information from YorkieTalk threads so that when people search for relevant topics, YorkieTalk threads may appear in their search results to help them with their issue. We like "real" record more, which is more of a "real" record. Tthe most number of YorkieTalk members ever online at the same time was 207 on 04-13-2008 at 6:35PM PDT. |

I figured we had all the new guests because our profile pages are so cool. :D Don't know if all of you know it, but at the bottom of the page is something called a tag, I think if you type something relevent to the thread in that space the thread will show up in a search. Seems silly to do it for trivial threads, but we do have a lot of important ones too. |
Thanks Admin for your input! It's nice to know what's going on. |
