Born March 14 and 1 lb? Is this normal, big, small? How big do you think they will be full grown? |
Could end up a larger yorkie maybe..I think you triple the weight at 8 weeks and double the weight at 12 weeks to get an estimate of the adult weight..this is a good and pretty accurate imo Puppy growth chart..I used this and it was accurate for my Pixie..I got her at 14 weeks old and she weighed 1lb 8oz...she's now 3lbs at 10 months. i would never go by the charts honestly i think it just depends on the dog. i got skoshi at 8 weeks at he was 1pd 9 oz and when he died he was at about 7pds and not over weight at all. They are actually get a certain amount of food. I think it depends on the dog and their backgrounds. also their energy level.(which still would prove wrong for skoshi because he was hyper non stop) i dunno but the charts have been proven wrong many times |
I've found the charts aren't really accurate...and using the rule of thumb of doubling the 12 week weight more accurate than tripling the 8 week. At best either method is a guess... |
always hard to tell! my bentley was 1.5lbs at 4 weeks (LOL) .... he was sooo adorably chubby! he only had one other littermate so they both ate well :D he is almost 6 months old and weighs exactly 3 lbs...he is really solid and not scrawny at all ... he really slowed down and grew into all his puppy fat & skin :) he really had fat rolls and could barely walk when he was a puppy - he mostly waddled hehe! |
The 12 week weight is really your best indicator. With pups only a few weeks old litter size and the amount of milk mom has makes a huge difference. I've had pups who were so fat you would think they would be huge adults and only were 4 lbs full grown. 4 weeks is just too soon to tell. |

Tinkerbell was the smallest of her litter from birth. The biggest in the litter has ended up being the smallest now at 18 weeks! Tinkerbell being the smallest in the litter has ended up being the largest at 18 weeks! So it seems the size they are when you pick them from a litter can change greatly. Not that we minded what size she become, we feel in love with her and we just wanted her:aimeeyork |
Ciara's puppies were born march 18th and are all over a pound now. The biggest is 1 lb 6 oz and the smallest is 1 lb 1 oz. |
