Yorkie markings Hi everyone! I'm looking at a little 6 week old female Yorkie that I think I'm going to buy. I was just curious about something. She has a small amount of white on the tips of her back toes and a small amount on her chest. Her parents do not have any white on them, they look like the breed standard and they weigh about 3-5 lbs. Will this white disappear? Should I not buy her? I don't know what to do. Thank you all. |
The majority of yorkies change color when they get older. |
white White marking on feet and chest is perfectly acceptable. It will grow off the toes and blend on the chest..Good luck |
If you buy her you'll love her anyway. I have been told that the white markings will fade and it is supposed to mean she'll be lighter colored. Not blonde light just not the black and tan. Sylvia |
rosie had white patch on her chest when i 1st got her, shes now almost 6 months and its faded to light tan, i wouldnt of cared if the white had stayed she will always be my baby girl wendy and rosie :rose: :yorkiesar |
Gordan and Bennett of Wildweir Kennels said that the (pg. 205) "small white markings will disappear and is a much looked for point, as it is an indication that the puppy will be a good coat grower in quanitity not necessary quality." T. |
My 2 babies are 6 months old now. When I got them, they were all brown and black and gradually they have gotten a little white on the top of their heads. They are as precious as ever though- you will love your yorkie with white- its natural anyways and on most dogs I have seen. |
Is it white or is it tan or fawn colored? I've never seen white. But, what really matters is that you like her. |
Thank you all for the information. I appreciate it. I have decided to get her and we're so excited. Thanks again! |
White on chest and a little on toes = usually indicates a thick, wooley coat. Lots of daily grooming required. |
That little bit of white is totally normal on a puppy (I think it is on the majority of them) and will go away as the adult coat comes in. It can still have the silky coat. |
